Becoming the Terminally-Ill Villain Who Torments His Disciples - Chapter 11.2
“No, but still… Do you trust me? Other guys might not care because they’re Betas, but I’m an Alpha.”
Ryan frowned slightly.
When three lines formed on his smooth forehead, Cielo pressed gently with his fingers to smooth them out.
“You said you wouldn’t make the same mistake again.”
“…”
“You’re also taking suppressants, and you’re even researching medicine that blocks the scent of Omega pheromones, aren’t you? Don’t I owe it to you to trust you as much as you’ve tried?”
At Cielo’s words, Ryan unconsciously opened his mouth slightly. His expression said he never imagined he’d hear something like that.
He opened and closed his mouth, lips parting without words as his face slowly turned red.
“Ryan?”
When the color of his cheeks nearly matched his hair, Ryan lowered his head deeply.
“…Yeah. Thank you.”
He whispered it so softly, and it was cute, but this wasn’t the time to admire his face. Cielo took a deep breath and turned his head back to the maid, grabbing her arm once more.
‘I don’t know what happened, but if it’s the crown prince’s doing, then this is clearly unjust…’
As he prayed earnestly for healing, he began to feel the strength drain from his body.
Thump, thump, thump.
The more strength left him, the louder the sound of his heartbeat grew. It was a similar feeling to what he had experienced recently whenever he was near Ryan.
Then, the heartbeat became so loud it seemed to ring in his ears.
“…Gah!”
It felt like someone’s fingernails were piercing his skin and scraping at his heart. The sharp sensation made his eyes snap open.
“Guh… ugh…”
The groan he tried to hold in slipped out between his lips, and the once-steady heartbeat began to slow down, then speed up erratically.
“Haa… ha…”
Though his fingertips were turning cold, it felt like his entire body was heating up.
‘…Heat? Is this because of a heat cycle?’
With a pale face, Cielo looked toward Ryan.
If this was a heat cycle, it was a serious problem. Trying to push Ryan away as a signal to get away, Ryan’s expression hardened as he grabbed Cielo’s arm.
“Cielo. Get a hold of yourself. Cielo!”
“Haah… haah…”
Ryan gently slapped Cielo’s now pale cheeks with his warm hands.
As the wildly pounding heart abruptly stopped for a moment,
Cielo’s body collapsed.
* * *
Blink, blink.
Slowly opening his eyes, Cielo blankly stared at the ceiling. The chandelier emitting a soft light was now a familiar sight.
When he turned his head slightly, he saw dawn beginning to break.
‘How long was I unconscious?’
As he tried to sit up, a cold pain surged in his chest.
He gasped reflexively, and then with strength draining from his body, he clutched his chest and fell face-first into the pillow.
“Cielo!”
Hearing the faint groan, Ryan rushed over in a panic.
He gently rubbed Cielo’s back, asking if he was okay, but Cielo couldn’t respond. The sensation of something squeezing his heart came back every time he tried to breathe.
“…Lie down a little longer.”
In the end, Ryan helped him lie down properly. Only after a long while did Cielo’s breathing and pained expression finally settle.
“Do you remember? Why are you here?”
Cielo opened his mouth to answer, but his throat was dry, and only a hoarse voice came out. Hearing this, Ryan leapt up with a loud clatter and returned with some lukewarm water.
Treating him like a critical patient, Ryan supported his shoulders and helped him sit up, placing the cup in his hands.
“Tell me if it’s hard to drink.”
After gulping down the water, Cielo finally gave a raspy cough.
“I remember… up to when I was healing her… What happened? Did I collapse because of the heat?”
Ryan’s expression darkened at once. He bit his lower lip and silently took the water glass from Cielo’s hands.
After tidying up around them and helping Cielo lie down again, Ryan let out a heavy breath, clearly unsettled.
“After you collapsed, I immediately checked your condition…”
“Yes?”
“Your heart… was born weaker than most people’s.”
“…”
“Even the standard medicines and suppressants on the market are too harsh for your body to handle… that’s how weak it is.”
