“My heart…?”

A weak heart?

There was nothing about that in the novel. Not even the slightest sign or warning.

“Ah…”

Could it be…

The tight, squeezing feeling he had felt in his chest — was that not from excitement caused by seeing someone?

Every time he saw Ryan, his heart had felt like it was dropping with a heavy thud. Was that sensation not from emotions toward a person but a real symptom of a heart condition?

“…”

He couldn’t accept it right away and lowered his gaze. Ryan quietly took Cielo’s hand.

Thick drops of tears began to fall on the sheets. Ryan kept his head down, still holding Cielo’s hand, as if he didn’t want to show his crying face.

“…Why are you crying?”

Cielo reached out his other hand and gently stroked Ryan’s head.

He wanted to wipe the tears from Ryan’s eyes, but since his face was hidden, the only place he could touch was his hair.

Maybe it wasn’t the right choice, because the sound of Ryan’s sobbing grew louder.

“You… you’ve already taken too many suppressants…”

“Ah…”

Ryan was crying and stammering, so the words weren’t clear, but Cielo understood what he was trying to say.

It meant he had been born with a weak heart and might die.

“In the novel, I remember…”

What exactly happened?

In the story, the character Cielo dies at the hands of Oscar.

To be more accurate, Oscar didn’t directly kill him. It was written that Oscar left Cielo behind while he was dying.

After committing many misdeeds and being completely cornered, the only person who could have saved Cielo was Oscar.

But Oscar chose not to save his mentor and allowed him to slowly die.

After that, the novel never mentioned “Cielo” again. Most likely because he died at that point.

‘There was a line saying he looked unwell…’

Cielo lowered his gaze with a bitter expression.

When he had read the novel, he had only thought, “Is he sick?” But now that he was experiencing it firsthand, he could roughly guess what had happened.

Maybe those few short lines had already said it all — that Cielo had always been ill.

But because that fact wasn’t important to the main character Oscar, it probably wasn’t written in detail.

After all, who would describe the backstory of a dying villain in such depth?

“…It seems he’s been sick since a young age.”

Cielo placed his hand on his chest.

He could hear the soft, faint beating of his heart.

It wasn’t strong enough to be called healthy, but not so weak that it seemed like he would die immediately.

Maybe that was why the original Cielo had been especially harsh with Oscar.

This was just a guess, but the Cielo in the novel must have started feeling pain whenever he healed people.

At one point, he could revive people who were half-dead, but as time went on, he started leaving everything to Oscar.

…How many years did he have left?

How much longer could he live?

“The future probably won’t change.”

No matter the path, Cielo would still die.

If he raised Oscar with care, maybe he could avoid a lonely death, hated by everyone.

If there were no limits to healing powers, maybe one day, when Oscar was grown, he could ask him to cure his heart.

But healing wasn’t all-powerful.

It could treat most illnesses and injuries, but it couldn’t stop the body from weakening like his.

Just as healing couldn’t stop aging.

“…It’s a pity.”

He wanted to see Oscar meet someone he loved and live a happy life.

He wanted to see him get married, have children, and build a joyful home.

He was curious who Oscar would choose from all the people who had confessed to him.

When Cielo originally died, the novel was still ongoing, and he never got to read the ending.

But maybe even that wish had been too greedy.

As he gently stroked Ryan’s trembling head, Cielo quietly asked,

“How much longer… Do you think I have?”

Ryan finally lifted his head at the question.

His tear-filled red eyes were overflowing with sorrow.

“We’ll have to wait and see. But…”

Ryan bit his lip and couldn’t continue.

His hesitation made it clear — Cielo didn’t have much time left.

That made sense. The original “Cielo” had died young too, so it wouldn’t be much different now.
