Surprisingly, I hadn’t woken up in the Bureau.

‘Why? How?’

I thought for sure that as soon as I opened my eyes, I’d get an earful from that prince about how I’d managed to cause two incidents in a single day and pass out twice.

But, no. The room was unmistakably insisting that it was a guest room in the Brondearn estate.

The same room where I was supposed to stay, bossing around that unfriendly maid.

But I didn’t even have time to be surprised, staring up at the unfamiliar ceiling and wallpaper.

“Lippey? You’re awake? Are you okay?”

“I feel like I’m dying…”

No sooner had I opened my eyes than a stabbing headache hit me hard.

It felt like a sharp awl was being driven through my whole head.

At my groan, Hyacine, who’d already brought water to the bedside, held it out to me.

“Ah, thanks.”

I quenched my thirst first.

I was about to feel a bit awkward about the strange atmosphere for just the two of us, but before I could, a cold voice came from the other side of the room, making me jump.

“You’re awake?”

Cough, cough, cough!

I nearly choked.

Turning my head with the cup still in my hand, I saw Acteon, sitting with his legs crossed and arms folded, staring right at me.

He hadn’t seriously been sitting there the whole time I was out, had he?

“Do you always live your life so recklessly, like a mayfly?”

“What are you…”

“What were you thinking?”

Acteon started interrogating me about guiding him of my own accord.

I helped him, and now he’s giving me a lecture?

“I specifically told you to call Blair. You must have known the risk in guiding me yourself with your level of ability. Why did you do it?”

“If someone collapses right in front of you, are you supposed to leave them alone and go looking for help, not knowing what could happen while you’re gone?”

“I could have held out—”

“No, if I hadn’t been there, you might not even be alive right now.”

“So you’re saying it wouldn’t matter what happened to you?”

Acteon wouldn’t back down, so I was about to argue back—

“Hey.”

Just as if he’d been waiting for me to wake up, Hyacine cut off Acteon’s scolding.

“I know my sister stuck her nose in where it didn’t belong, but that doesn’t mean I want to sit here and let someone else criticize her in silence.”

“……”

“If someone’s going to get mad, shouldn’t it be me?”

A strange silence hovered between the two of them.

What’s with you two now? What happened while I was out?

Even if I didn’t know the details, it was obvious there was no love lost between them.

Hyacine probably thought I’d collapsed because of Acteon, while Acteon thought I’d been reckless.

I raised my hand to mediate, and both of them looked at me at the same time.

“I’d like to know what happened while I was unconscious.”

Honestly, I’d fully expected to wake up in a solitary room at the Awakened Registry Bureau.

“Nothing happened. Whatever you were worried about didn’t come to pass.”

“I’m asking how it was handled.”

But Hyacine wasn’t letting up, skillfully steering my attention away.

“You can find out later. More importantly, don’t you want something to eat? You’ve been unconscious for two full days.”

Two days?

I was shocked speechless.

As if he’d expected this, Hyacine called for an attendant, and as if they’d been waiting, the door opened right away.

He ordered some simple food to be brought up so naturally that for a moment I wondered if we’d actually been nobles all along.

Even Acteon didn’t stop him.

And the attendant’s attitude was completely different too. Nothing like that rude maid from the first day.

‘Just what happened while I was out?’

As I was struggling to adjust to all these changes—

“You… what about you, Senior?”

Acteon, correcting how he addressed me, asked softly.

His attitude was clearly gentler than before I fainted.

“How do you think you’d feel if the person who helped you suddenly collapsed right in front of you?”

So I save him, and he lectures me for it.

It was absurd, but Acteon, pale-faced, didn’t seem to realize what he was saying. It was obvious these words were just tumbling out without order.
