Guiding the Male Lead out of His Trauma - Chapter 5.2
‘The more you use mana, the harder it becomes to stabilize the mana flowing into your body.’
You have to use only as much mana as your body can handle, but the greater the amount you take in, the harder it is to control.
Eventually, the mana inside you bursts out wildly, and both the Transcendent and everyone around them end up devastated.
That’s why people like me exist—Guides. We’re the ones who stabilize the mana of Transcendents.
‘But…’
House Brondearn, where Hyacine and I are headed, is particularly barren when it comes to the manifestation of Guides.
What that means is…
They are abnormally obsessed with Guides.
Damn it.
‘That’s why the female lead, Millia, also went through so many hardships there…’
Transcendents, who wield this new power called mana.
Guides, who keep those Transcendents from falling apart.
Among them, Brondearn is infamous for being overwhelmingly skewed toward the Transcendents’ side. Whenever they meet a Guide with high compatibility, regardless of gender, they’re known for using any means or scheme necessary to keep that Guide by their side.
And now, as a B-Class Guide, I’m about to stick my head into that lion’s den myself.
‘Well, since I’m only B-Class, they shouldn’t be interested in me…’
Given how things have turned out… I do feel bad for Millia, but… As soon as I get to Brondearn, I have to find her first.
Unlike me, the female lead Millia is an S-Class Guide.
‘It’d be better if she met Acteon early and they steadily build up some affection. Even get engaged, if possible. There’d be nothing better than that.’
I don’t want to control other people’s lives, but in the end, the two of them are the main characters of this novel.
That was how I finally regained my composure.
“Lippey!”
The lounge door swung open and Hyacine appeared, his face a mess of worry and relief.
“Hey, are you crazy?”
“You’re even scolding me when I came to help.”
“Are you in your right mind? If it hadn’t been for His Highness the Prince, you’d have—!”
“You don’t even call me ‘Sister’, even though it’s been so long since we last met.”
I cut him off with every word, and Hyacine finally burst out.
But he couldn’t finish his sentence, it just trailed off.
“Is that really important right now? Do you know how much I…”
Seeing how red his eyes were, I realized he must have been really tormented while I was locked up, and it made me feel a little bad.
In the end, I couldn’t tease him any further and reached out to pat him on the head.
“Alright, thanks for worrying about me.”
When I calmly comforted him, Hyacine finally scrunched up his face, trying not to cry.
Seeing him like that, I couldn’t help but laugh, and decided to calm him down first.
“I’m fine, so stop crying.”
“I’m not crying, okay?”
“You haven’t even wiped away your tear stains yet.”
Startled by my words, Hyacine rubbed his eyes with the sleeve of his clean, new clothes.
I may have suddenly found myself inside a novel as an extra, but as someone who’s lived as Liliope, the memories of the two of us relying on each other to survive are what matter most to me.
My only family.
Now, finally able to really let go, I mischievously called Hyacine by his real name.
Hyacine Ortis.
It’s a pretty nice name, but the truth is, this kid has an even prettier, flower-like real name.
“It’s a joke, Hyacine.”
No one among the original characters ever learned this, nor did they need to, but I suppose that’s the privilege of being his real sister.
My brother’s real name is Hyacinth.
Hyacine and Hys are just nicknames, so when I called him by his real name for the first time in a while, his face turned bright red.
“…I told you not to call me that.”
“You don’t call me ‘Sister’ either.”
“I can, you know!”
Teasing him finally helped him relax a little.
That’s when I noticed the man who had been standing behind Hyacine for a while now.
A young man with brown hair tied neatly in a ponytail and a monocle.
“…Hello.”
“Pleased to meet you, Miss Ortis.”
Hyacine turned around and stepped in front of me, as if to protect me.
But I already knew who he was.
“I’m Blair from House Brondearn.”
He was the aide to the head of House Brondearn, and probably the person sent to fetch us.
