Wrong Genre! - Chapter 5.1
Why was he lowering his voice like that… What was he about to say? Tensing up, Rueg bit the soft flesh inside his cheek.
…Don’t tell me he’s about to tell me to pack my things and leave the palace right now? The moment that thought crossed his mind, Rueg snapped his head up and looked into Felix’s eyes.
The instant those red eyes glinted chillingly, Rueg fell to his knees with a thud and shouted.
“Please don’t fire me! I have fifteen servants I need to feed!”
“What sort of relati… What?”
At the absurd words that spilled from Rueg’s mouth, one of Felix’s eyebrows shot up.
But Rueg, not hearing what Felix had been about to say, squeezed his eyes shut and trembled as he spoke.
Felix, looking down at Rueg’s round head, silently placed his hand on top of it.
“Get up.”
“If you’re not going to fire me, then I’ll get up.”
“…I said, get up.”
But Rueg kept his eyes tightly closed and refused to stand. He felt he couldn’t relax until he got a definite promise he wouldn’t be fired.
Letting out a long sigh at this unexpected stubbornness, Felix slowly blinked and brushed back his hair.
It almost looked like he was swallowing down irritation, and Rueg instinctively shrank back.
“If you make me say it twice, I might actually fire you.”
At those words, Rueg sprang to his feet.
He swayed a bit from getting up so suddenly, but just the relief of not being fired filled his face with joy.
“…Let’s go back now.”
“Yes! I-I promise I’ll really work hard until the end of the day without dozing off!”
“Do something about that pathetic face of yours.”
Felix said with a voice tinged with irritation, and Rueg pouted. As if having completely forgotten about Yuri, the two of them turned and walked side by side down the opposite end of the corridor.
Watching their retreating backs, Yuri let out a breathless, hollow laugh.
“I figured that might not be Versha…”
But who would have thought the Crown Prince knew, too?
Even though their encounter had been brief, there was already more than enough proof that this person was not ‘Versha Verdic’.
For example, the dazzling golden hair that once fell to the waist had been cut short without a hint of regret. Or the way this person, rumored to be on bad terms with Yuri, uttered the word ‘beautiful’ and so on.
Even after getting injured in the face, that Versha Verdic would have immediately said some nonsense like, “How dare you stand in my way. Do you have a death wish?!”
“Even getting along with the Crown Prince is proof in itself.”
The moment this fact was certain, Yuri’s icy blue eyes flashed with determination.
It’s said that Versha was quite fond of her twin brother. In fact, the reason she would leave the palace right after working hours was supposedly to get home to her younger brother, Rueg Verdic, who was alone at the mansion.
Yuri, who didn’t know that the real reason for Versha’s prompt departures was to go on dates with her lover, only built up misunderstandings while stroking one’s chin.
“Just where could she have gone, leaving behind the brother she supposedly cherishes so much?”
Or rather, what could that woman be planning?
Lost in thought for a moment, Yuri sharply watched the two as they walked farther away.
But what mattered now wasn’t where Versha had gone.
What mattered was that the cherished younger brother, ‘Rueg Verdic’, was here in the palace.
“When the time is right, deal with House Verdic. I let them be because they were already on the decline, but…”
The ‘Verdic’ family had always been a thorn in Yuri’s side.
“But to think Rueg Verdic would just fall from the sky like this.”
Yuri smiled while recalling the look Felix had given Rueg. There was clearly some sort of relationship between Felix and Rueg.
If that was the case…
“Then I’ll use Rueg Verdic to ruin everything.”
Versha Verdic. Just as she had once messed with the Everton family, Yuri now planned to use Rueg Verdic to shake everything Versha cared about.
No matter how it ended.
