“Wa—Wait a minute!”

Ryu Hae-sol cried out as if screaming, crawling across the floor to grab the hem of the man’s trousers. The men’s movements paused briefly at Ryu Hae-sol’s desperate action, which they had never seen before.

“I, I recently met a rich person! He’s a dominant alpha…… R—really an incredible person! He’s someone with so much money that a debt like this is just chump change to him!”

Ryu Hae-sol rambled like a madman, spilling words out rapidly. He desperately hoped that this bluff would work and that the thin lifeline of hope he had barely managed to think of wouldn’t snap. Dropping Do Won-hyung’s name was chillingly humiliating, but nothing was more important right now than avoiding the violation staring him in the face.

“If, if we go to him, you can get the money! Absolutely! He’s pretty hooked on me! Really!”

Only then did the men look at Ryu Hae-sol with fairly intrigued gazes. At that, he clung even more desperately, blurting out whatever came to mind.

“He’ll give me whatever I ask for! So please, please give me just a few more days!”

Ryu Hae-sol begged, prostrating himself like a dog on the verge of licking the man’s shoes. He knew how miserable and ridiculous the words coming out of his own mouth sounded, but even so, he couldn’t stop. Right now, the only thing Ryu Hae-sol could lean on was the name of Do Won-hyung, who had despised him.

And at Ryu Hae-sol’s desperate cry, the men’s movements stopped. The hand of the man who had been undoing his belt froze in mid-air, and the sinister smile that had been on his face flashed away, replaced by an expression of mild interest. He yanked Ryu Hae-sol up by the collar, asking in a voice mixed with contempt and curiosity.

“So, who is this great dominant alpha lord you’re talking about? Let’s hear his name for once.”

The men asked lightly, in an amused tone. It was the last chance given to Ryu Hae-sol and a lifeline barely grabbed at the threshold of hell. He swallowed hard. Dragging those three syllables of ‘that name’ out of a throat parried and dried out by fear was as heavy as lifting a mountain.

However, he could no longer hesitate. The moment he hesitated here, even the faint spark of hope he had barely ignited would be snuffed out. Ryu Hae-sol moved his trembling lips desperately and answered.

“Do, Do Won-hyung……. The youngest son of DK Group, that Do Won-hyung.”

The moment the name popped out of Ryu Hae-sol’s mouth, the air in the room changed subtly. The men seemed completely surprised, as if they hadn’t expected any specific name to pop out. The weight carried by the word ‘DK Group’ was beyond imagination.

The men turned their heads and faced each other as if by agreement. Complexly intertwined in their gazes were interest, doubt, and greed. The tattooed man let out an incredulous hollow laugh and muttered.

“Hey, did you hear that? The sucker this punk hooked is Do Won-hyung of DK Group. Hey, isn’t this punk completely out of his mind? What kind of family is that to go getting entangled with a punk like this?”

It was a perfectly reasonable point. Anyone would think so. But the other man’s thoughts seemed slightly different. Slowly rubbing his stubble-covered chin, the man scanned Ryu Hae-sol up and down. That gaze was as cold and calculating as an appraiser evaluating the value of an item.

“Well, would he try to trick us with some absurd lie at a desperate moment like this?”

“Hmm, is that so? Maybe. Come to think of it, I’ve heard rumors that even that Do Won-hyung guy isn’t a particularly squeaky-clean character. You never know who he might have gotten mixed up with.”

Their conversation made it feel as though a ray of hopeful sunlight was shining down on Ryu Hae-sol. After all, the power held by the names of Do Won-hyung and his family was not weak. But that was only temporary. It could stop their ruthless actions, but it was not a fundamental solution.

They still couldn’t let go of their thread of doubt, continuing their conversation as they evaluated Ryu Hae-sol’s worth regarding Do Won-hyung. The dialogue was tightening like a noose around his neck. The tattooed man bent down again and roughly grabbed Ryu Hae-sol by the hair, hauling him up.

“Fine, let’s say your story is true. But what on earth makes us trust you enough to let you go? Is there any guarantee you won’t just run away again?”

The man’s words hit the exact blind spot. They didn’t have a single reason to trust Ryu Hae-sol. They had zero trust in Ryu Hae-sol, who had been caught by bad luck while continually running away without paying back his debt.
