- Chapter 113.1 - Special Side Story I
It had already been half a year since Cielo began living in Eunwoo’s body. It had also been half a year since he started living in the same house as Ji Taehyuk.
Half a year was both a short and long period of time.
He had now adapted to this world well enough to use most electronic devices with ease and had even managed to enroll in a university.
“Though none of this would’ve been possible without Ji Taehyuk.”
The world Lee Eunwoo had lived in was far more complicated and difficult than Cielo had imagined. There were countless numbers, symbols, and foreign languages that might as well have been alien.
Fortunately, the Eunwoo he had entered seemed to be highly intelligent.
“If the circumstances had allowed it, you would’ve wanted to learn many things too, Eunwoo.”
What could he be doing now?
Just as he briefly wondered if Eunwoo was doing well, his phone buzzed with short vibrations.
[You’re coming for first period today, right, hyung?]
[I’ll save you a seat!]
[Oh, do you prefer iced Americano or a latte?]
[I think you liked sweet things last time. Want to try a vanilla latte today? There’s caramel macchiato too.]
[If you don’t reply soon, I’ll just get something at random!]
The messages, sounding as though someone were chattering right next to him, made Eunwoo let out a small laugh without realizing it.
The sender was Jung Haegun, the first person Eunwoo befriended after entering university, and someone who had been helping him a lot with campus life.
On his very first day at school, when he couldn’t even find his classroom and was standing around aimlessly, it had been Haegun who came to his aid.
[I’m craving a vanilla latte. But I just got up, so I might be a bit late. I’ll get ready and head out soon.]
As soon as he sent his slow reply, a read receipt popped up immediately, as if Haegun had been staring at the chat.
[Okay!]
At the energetic response, Eunwoo smiled softly and tried to get up — or rather, he would have, had Taehyuk not extended an arm to wrap around his waist.
“…Are you heading out now?”
“You’re awake? If it was because of the phone vibrating…”
“No, it was time to get up anyway. You said you’re leaving, right? Get ready. I’ll come with you.”
At Taehyuk’s words, Eunwoo nodded and immediately headed to the bathroom.
While he was in the bathroom, his phone buzzed several more times.
[Oh, right, hyung!]
[There’s a class-end gathering today.]
[They said we’re going out for drinks afterwards.]
[You’re coming too, right?]
[If you’re not, I won’t go either.]
[I want to see you soon.]
Taehyuk frowned at the string of messages lighting up the screen.
“…‘I want to see you’?”
Do kids these days say such cheeky things even between friends? Frowning, Taehyuk stared intently at Eunwoo’s phone.
But that wasn’t all from Jung Haegun. He went on to talk about today’s weather and how Eunwoo didn’t need to bundle up too much, even using cutesy emoticons.
Even though they saw each other at school every day, Haegun messaged nearly every hour, never seeming to tire of it.
Even when Eunwoo was working his part-time job:
[Hyung, can I come visit?]
[Tried studying at the library but couldn’t concentrate…]
[Also, I kinda want to drink the coffee you made!]
It was, no matter how one looked at it, an obvious show of interest.
But Eunwoo didn’t reject it. He never refused Haegun’s chattering messages.
[You’re having trouble studying?]
[I don’t know if I can help, but…]
[Still, if you want to come, then come. There aren’t many customers right now.]
What was the point of mentioning that there were few customers? Taehyuk’s frown deepened at the strange sense of irritation rising within him.
“Hmph.”
Needlessly kind.
Taehyuk lifted his head and looked at Eunwoo, who had come out of the bathroom and was getting ready to go.
He knew well that Eunwoo was a gentle and thoughtful person.
Someone overly pure and lacking greed, unlike most people nowadays. As if just the fact that he was alive held meaning.
That was the kind of person Taehyuk saw Eunwoo as.
After a brief pause, Taehyuk approached him as he shook the water from his damp hair. Without a word, he took the towel from Eunwoo’s hands and gently dried his hair.
