Becoming the Terminally-Ill Villain Who Torments His Disciples - Chapter 3.2
At the soft call, Oscar flinched and let go of the robe he had been clutching. Watching the child nervously wonder if he was going to be scolded, Cielo bent down to meet his eyes.
“What would you like to do?”
“Y-yes…?”
“If you want to come with me, then come. If you’re still tired and want to sleep more, it’s perfectly fine to go back and rest.”
At the rare gentleness in Cielo’s voice, Oscar’s eyes widened. But he couldn’t answer easily. He kept picking at the skin beside his fingernails with his nails, clearly anxious.
Despite the trembling and nervousness, Oscar gathered his courage and spoke.
“I… I want to go with you… I don’t get to see Master heal people often… I want to watch.”
Cielo gently reached out and took Oscar’s hand so he wouldn’t be startled. Then he guided the small hand to his robe again, as if saying it was okay to hold on.
“It’s fine to hold on.”
“Ah…”
“Then let’s go.”
As Cielo stood up, Oscar’s gaze followed him.
“Thank goodness.”
He had been worried that Oscar might even fear visible physical contact, but it seemed that wasn’t the case.
Maybe that was why Oscar kept clinging to the person named Cielo. Wanting to be noticed. Wanting things to change. Wanting not to be abandoned.
Cielo bit the soft flesh inside his cheek. His heart felt uneasy.
When they arrived at the infirmary, people quickly stepped aside as they spotted Cielo and Oscar entering.
“T-the bleeding won’t stop!”
“Lord Doberman! You must not lose consciousness!”
Pushing through the chaos, they reached a red-haired man who was clinging to his wound and barely hanging on.
With every breath, blood gushed out. His ragged breathing and ghostly pale face showed just how serious the situation was.
The moment Cielo saw the man, doubt and fear surged up all at once.
“Can I really do this?”
As Cielo hesitated and only looked at the man without acting, Oscar asked quietly.
“M-Master, should I do it instead? We need to consider your heat cycle interval too…”
Oscar was sweating heavily as he spoke, trying to save Cielo from possible embarrassment in front of everyone.
“Ah.”
Heat cycle.
Hearing that reminded Cielo of something from the novel.
It was often mentioned that people with healing powers experienced side effects when they used them.
Both Oscar and Cielo, whenever they used their abilities, would accumulate physical strain in their bodies.
Healing minor wounds didn’t cause much harm, but the more serious the injury, the greater the toll it took.
Because of this, those with strong healing powers, especially dominant types, often had disrupted heat cycles.
“That’s right. In the novel, Oscar once triggered a sudden heat cycle while healing someone.”
That made Cielo even more unwilling to leave the task to Oscar. Even if his condition hadn’t manifested yet due to his age, it still felt wrong to let such a young child treat someone in critical condition, knowing how dangerous it could be for his body.
“No. I’ll do it.”
Taking a deep breath, Cielo knelt beside the man and placed his hand on the man’s arm.
“The desire to heal someone.”
Cielo sincerely hoped that this man, whose name he didn’t even know, would recover.
He wished that one day the man would remember having been healed by a royal healer and repay that kindness not to him, but to Oscar.
Because he wanted this child, burdened with so many wounds, to be loved.
At that moment, dizziness struck and he squeezed his eyes shut. Around him, voices of awe rose.
“H-how could it happen so quickly…?”
He tried to keep his eyes open, but his lashes trembled with effort. His body felt like a soaked cloth, heavy and drained.
When he finally managed to open his eyes again, the man who had been in so much pain now looked peaceful.
The large wound, and even the smallest scratches, had all disappeared completely.
“Ha…”
It worked. It wasn’t just an illusion. He could fully use the power that belonged to Cielo.
Just as a faint smile tugged at his lips, there was a heavy thump in his chest. At the same time, a sharp pain surged through his lungs.
“Hhk…!”
Unable to withstand the sudden pain, Cielo opened his mouth. Blood he hadn’t managed to swallow fell to the floor, drop by drop.
