Becoming the Terminally-Ill Villain Who Torments His Disciples - Chapter 37.1
Lately, Oscar’s behavior had been strange.
“It’s Pascius again! Again!”
“Good grief… He used to be such a quiet child. I just don’t understand what’s gotten into him. You can’t go around hitting people like that…”
“Exactly. And it seems he’s keeping his distance from Lord Esteban now. …Ah, could it be that he realized how violent he was and abandoned him?”
As Cielo quietly read the day’s official documents, his face twisted.
“How noisy.”
At Cielo’s curt show of displeasure, the others immediately fell silent. He had spoken coldly on purpose, but inwardly, Cielo was deeply unsettled.
‘Oscar…’
Why was he acting like this?
Even if the kind image Oscar had shown him until now had been a façade, he wasn’t someone who would go around throwing punches without cause. There had to be a reason—Cielo just couldn’t guess what it was.
Then, the next day—
The very people who had spoken ill of Oscar at the infirmary the day before were bedridden.
Standing beside the sickbeds, Cielo looked at them with a grave expression. Their entire faces were swollen as if they’d been beaten severely, and one of them even had a broken right arm.
“…You’re saying Oscar did this to you?”
“Huh? Th-that is… it’s nothing!”
They stammered in a panic, quickly pulling the blankets over their heads as if trying to hide.
But Cielo pulled the blanket down and said firmly,
“Talk to me. I need to know something to figure out how to resolve it—or even whether it should be resolved.”
“Eeek! I-I’m sorry! I’m so sorry!”
With a loud thud, one of them fell off the bed, trembling all over. Just looking at Cielo seemed to terrify them.
Completely baffled, Cielo tilted his head in confusion before finally sighing.
“Haah… If you have anything to say later, come find me.”
In the end, Cielo sought out the other people who had claimed Oscar had hit them. But whenever he approached, every single one of them just trembled or repeatedly apologized.
“What on earth is going on…?”
While Cielo puzzled over it, disturbing rumors began to circulate within the imperial palace.
This time, however, the rumors weren’t about Cielo—but about Oscar.
Rumors like: “Ever since he awakened as an Alpha, he’s been full of himself,” or “Just because he received an honorary title, he thinks he’s a real baron.” None of them were pleasant to hear.
As Cielo let out a deep sigh, the door burst open and a man with brilliant blond hair appeared.
It was Noah.
After scanning the infirmary, Noah looked around for Oscar. While organizing some shelves, Cielo turned to him and said,
“If you’re looking for Oscar, he’s probably near the west—no, wait. Lord Anderson, are you still chasing after someone who’s clearly said they don’t want you?”
Noah’s face twitched slightly at Cielo’s question.
Suppressing a scoff in his throat, he ran a hand through his hair and replied,
“I’m not, actually.”
His tone was thick with irritation and arrogance.
Cielo, silently studying Noah’s face, nodded and turned back around.
“Is that so? Then if it’s this time of day, Oscar should be training near the west tower.”
At that, Noah gave Cielo a slow once-over. His expression was visibly displeased, as if to say, “Why do you know so much about the person I’m interested in?”
“You said you came looking for Oscar, didn’t you?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
“Then I believe I told you where he is. Aren’t you going to go?”
Faced with what was effectively a dismissal, Noah’s expression soured. Clicking his tongue, he turned around with open discontent.
“To think Pascius’s mentor is someone who spread their legs for their own brother. Disgusting.”
Muttering to himself, Noah left the infirmary—and Cielo let out a scoff of disbelief.
“That’s the first time someone’s said something like that to my face.”
Murmuring under his breath, Cielo resumed his work. But Noah’s parting remark lingered in his head.
He had thought the rumors involving the Esteban twins had quieted down recently. But ever since he had grown distant from Oscar, occasional whispers about them had started to surface again.
‘What exactly happened to the previous “Cielo”?’
Still, the fortunate thing was that he hadn’t run into the twins again since seeing them in front of the infirmary years ago.
The fleeting memory he’d recalled was far from pleasant, so if possible, he hoped he’d never have to cross paths with them again.
“But then, why…”
Why did he feel so anxious?
Just as Cielo was deep in thought about the Esteban twins—
“L-Lord Esteban!”
A servant burst into the infirmary, flinging the doors open as he shouted urgently.
