Becoming the Terminally-Ill Villain Who Torments His Disciples - Chapter 49.2
“Mm, I don’t wanna…”
“You don’t? But Mama wants to sleep with Ciel.”
“I like that!”
Beaming, Cielo tossed aside the book he had been reading without care. The white-haired woman sitting on the bed shook her head.
“Ciel, you have to put the book away properly, okay?”
“Mm…”
Fidgeting with his fingers, Cielo looked back and forth between his mother and the discarded book. After hesitating for a moment, he calmed himself, put the book back in place with his small hands, and then ran to the bed.
“I put it away!”
“Yes, well done. Good boy, good boy.”
Pat, pat. As his mother gently stroked his head, Cielo broke into a bright smile.
To fall asleep in the warmth of his mother’s arms, feeling deeply loved—that was the life of young Cielo.
But his world was very small. His kind, warm mother never let him leave the room.
“I want to go outside too…”
Pouting, Cielo pressed his forehead against the window and mumbled.
The world that Cielo could see was limited to the large room and what lay beyond the window. His mother, Aire, never allowed him outside.
She never gave a reason. She just kept repeating that it was dangerous.
At that moment, Cielo spotted two children who looked a little older than him.
“…Huh?”
Eyes wide, Cielo stiffened. He had been told never to be seen by others, but there they were—two identical children standing side by side. He was fascinated.
They held hands and had the same face, the same expression. It was strange and curious.
“Wow…”
As Cielo pressed his face to the window, one of the boys looked up. Their eyes met.
“Ah!”
The boy mumbled something and pointed toward the window where Cielo was. The other boy holding his hand also looked up and saw him.
“So pretty…”
Cielo stared at the two boys, eyes wide. They were more handsome than pretty, but with a limited vocabulary, that was the highest compliment a child like him could give.
“Pretty? What are you looking at…”
From the rocking chair, Aire, who had been asleep, slowly opened her eyes at Cielo’s murmuring.
Realizing he wasn’t looking up at the sky, but at the garden, her face went pale.
“No! You mustn’t!”
She quickly closed the curtains and grabbed Cielo’s shoulders. Her voice was urgent as she asked who he saw, and her face sank into despair.
Back then, he didn’t understand.
He didn’t know that this was the moment everything he had would begin to fall apart.
After a very long time, his father came to visit.
The stern-faced man looked at Cielo and gestured toward the door.
“Wait outside.”
“I-Is it okay if I go… outside?”
Cielo hesitated and hid behind Aire.
Clenching her fists, she let out a short sigh and looked him in the eyes.
“Cielo, my beloved son. Mama is going to talk to the Duke for a little while. Can you wait outside?”
“Is it… really okay to go out?”
“Yes. It’s okay. Everything’s okay now. But the outside world is vast and full of things that could hurt you, so don’t run around. If it gets too scary, just stand still. I’ll come get you.”
With her voice full of tears, Cielo looked around nervously. But his father, Typhon, only glanced at him sternly, silently urging him to leave.
As Cielo timidly stepped out of the room, the door slammed shut behind him.
“…”
Terrified, Cielo stood frozen in place, listening for voices from inside.
Once everything went quiet, he slowly lifted his head and looked around.
For over seven years, he had been confined to one room—and now, for the first time, he was seeing another world. The mansion’s ceiling was unbelievably high, and the chandelier glittered like water, the most beautiful thing Cielo had ever seen.
“Hi there.”
A warm voice reached his ears.
When he turned his head, he saw the two boys he had seen in the garden before. The twins, each a head taller than him, stood smiling at him.
“What’s your name?”
