“Why should we care about the weak…?”

It was the first time Cielo found his older brothers strange.

Because every night, the words Aire spoke to him in bed had been completely different.

“Cielo. If there’s someone weaker than you, and if that person asks for help, reach out your hand willingly. I hope you never become someone who bullies the weak.”

But Sol and Pielago acted in complete opposition to Aire’s teachings.

When the weak asked for help, they ignored them or made things worse. If someone got on their nerves, they got rid of them. If someone resisted, they crushed them with money or violence.

“That’s not right…”

Cielo simply couldn’t understand it.

So he gradually began to distance himself from the twins. Even when they caused trouble, he started to see himself more as an observer rather than one of them.

Then one day—

Pielago was bullying the child of a visiting guest at the estate.

Cielo, unable to bring himself to intervene, stood at a distance watching with disapproval.

That was when a soft voice spoke from behind.

“You don’t like what Pielago’s doing?”

It was Sol.

Instead of answering, Cielo blinked slowly, then turned his head and looked again at Pielago in the distance.

“It’s not that exactly… It just feels like… he tries to hurt others before they can hurt him.”

“……”

“Even if he didn’t puff himself up like that, no one would try to harm him.”

Cielo’s voice was full of sympathy and concern. Sol’s expression gradually stiffened, but Cielo didn’t notice, as he was still focused on Pielago.

“Both of you are such amazing people… It’s just so… painful and sad to see you going to such lengths just to get others’ attention.”

He had said it impulsively, hoping the two wouldn’t become the subject of gossip and criticism.

“So we look that pathetic to you?”

“…What?”

“I should’ve listened to Pielago. The moment you started flapping your mouth, I should’ve taught you properly.”

Sol’s voice was blank and expressionless—an expression Cielo had seen before.

It was the one he wore whenever he found someone he wanted to hurt.

“If I had, you wouldn’t be acting so high and mighty right now.”

“W-What are you talking about…?”

Sol didn’t answer. He simply stepped forward and shoved Cielo without hesitation.

“Ah…!”

His body lurched backward.

As he stumbled, about to fall, Cielo instinctively reached out his hand as if begging for help.

But Sol muttered with eyes void of emotion:

“What do you think you know?”

Thud!

Little Cielo’s body tumbled down the stairs.

With screams ringing from every direction, he felt something in their relationship break—shatter—irreversibly.

***

That night, the night he fell down the stairs.

Suffering from a high fever due to his injuries, Cielo realized something was wrong with his body.

“Hngh… it hurts… itchy… nghh…”

His broken leg throbbed with pain, and at the same time, he felt an intense thirst and itch all over.

While he was gasping for breath, Pielago—who had come to check on him after hearing he was hurt—muttered with sharp, narrowed eyes:

“You smell good…”

Sol, staring blankly, began to step into the room. But just then, Pielago—standing by the door—slammed it shut with a loud bang and shouted:

“Are you insane, brother?!”

The commotion outside the room continued for a while.

“Nngh… ngh… it hurts… brother…”

Cielo had no way of knowing why his body itched so badly, or why he felt the way he did.

He had just experienced his first manifestation as an Omega.

All he could do was cry, looking for someone to help him, and twist and writhe in a desperate attempt to ease the unbearable sensation.

***

The next morning, Cielo learned he had manifested as an Omega.

He spent nearly a week holed up in his room, suffering through it all.

And finally, when he was allowed to come out again—

Sol looked down at him with emotionless eyes and said:

“So Father wasn’t lying after all. An Omega, huh.”

“……”

“So you really were an illegitimate child, Cielo.”
