“I have to prioritize protecting my body as much as possible.”

Right now, Cielo’s body was far too weak.

Whether it was the consequence of summoning a monster as a child or from being beaten by Sol, he didn’t know. Either way, he didn’t want to push his body any further.

While Cielo was lost in thought, a quiet voice came from above his head.

“I’ll do whatever you want, Cielo.”

“Huh?”

“So when you face that bastard, make sure to take me with you.”

At Ryan’s words, Cielo’s eyes widened.

How he’d heard something that was barely more than a whisper was unclear, but Ryan was now closely inspecting the wounds on Cielo’s body.

Only then did Cielo raise a hand and gently touch Ryan’s cheek.

“I’m all right, Ryan. Thanks to you, I’m still alive.”

“…”

“Really… really, thank you, Ryan.”

At Cielo’s words, Ryan’s face twisted.

The sight of Cielo smiling brightly, saying he was fine with a swollen face, was heartbreaking. And yet, he looked so dazzlingly beautiful it made Ryan’s chest ache.

“…Let’s go. Let’s get back and ask Pascius to heal your wounds.”

“Oh… Can’t we hide somewhere until I get better? If Oscar finds out, who knows what kind of scene he’ll cause…”

“Exactly. Who told you to wait until you got beat up to call me? I said to call me if things got dangerous.”

Grumbling, Ryan naturally lifted Cielo into his arms.

When Cielo flailed, insisting he could walk on his own, Ryan shot him a sharp glare. The look in his eyes was so similar to how Oscar looked when he was angry that Cielo had no choice but to fall quiet.

“We should probably get down from the mountain…”

Ryan looked up at the sky. Ash from the burning villa was mixing with falling snow as it drifted downward.

When Cielo looked up as well, Ryan raised a hand to shield his face—so none of it would fall on him.

“If we move carelessly in this weather, we could get stranded.”

“Yeah. Maybe we should’ve delayed burning the villa…”

“No… Actually, on the way up to the villa, I saw a small cabin. If we keep going down this path, it should be there. I didn’t sense anyone around it.”

“Great, let’s head there then.”

Adjusting his hold, Ryan started walking again.

The northern mountains were always blanketed in snow, and it was hard enough to walk alone. Yet Ryan strode forward in large steps without ever putting Cielo down.

“Come to think of it…”

“Hm?”

“How did you get here? I called your name and then… you just showed up like magic.”

“Oh, that. It’s my unique ability. Just like you and Pascius have healing abilities.”

Ryan’s ability was “movement.” Before he manifested as a dominant alpha, he could only move objects to wherever he thought of.

But after becoming a dominant alpha, he was able to transport himself to any place where he had left a trace.

Thanks to that, he could travel easily to the borders infested with monsters or to deep forests—and also return to the imperial palace in an instant.

That was how he’d always been able to come straight to the palace’s medical ward, even while carrying monster-inflicted wounds.

However, jumping directly to a person had its limitations. Just like how Cielo had called out Ryan’s name, Ryan could only appear right beside someone when they called for him.

“Wait. If you need to leave a trace in order to teleport… then you left one on me too, didn’t you?”

“Yep.”

“When?”

“The night I said I’d stop telling you to ‘wait.’ When we kissed.”

At Ryan’s words, Cielo’s face began to turn red.

No wonder he’d been unusually persistent that night!

“Y-you should have told me about that beforehand!”

Cielo’s face turned bright red, like a fully ripe tomato. Ryan laughed out loud and pressed a kiss to the tip of his nose.

“Why are you so embarrassed? We’ve already spent heat cycles together. And every time, we kissed like we’d never stop.”

“Th-that’s…!”

“Come to think of it, I forgot to say this that day. You’ve gotten really good at kissing, Cielo.”
