Cielo let out a tense breath as he stepped into the Esteban mansion.

He had worried the whole way that Pielago might suddenly leap out, but thankfully, nothing of the sort happened.

So he didn’t come straight here…

Then after pushing the carriage off the cliff—where did he go?

Brushing aside his thoughts with a small shake of his head, Cielo refocused.

For now, the priority was to face Typhon and speak with him.

“What a surprise. Of all people, you came all the way here yourself.”

That was what Duke Esteban, Typhon, said as Cielo stepped inside.

Standing on the stairs with a stern face, he looked down at Cielo.

“I’ve come because there’s something I wish to say.”

“Without even arranging an appointment?”

“……”

“Tsk, tsk. No matter how much food, education, and effort you pour into him, a fool’s nature doesn’t change.”

It had been years since their last encounter, back at Cielo’s coming-of-age ceremony, but Typhon hadn’t changed in the slightest.

Neither in how he looked at Cielo nor in the way he treated him.

From beginning to end, it was the expression of someone looking at a person he had never once liked.

“And now you bring some lowborn brat into this noble house.”

Clicking his tongue, Typhon turned his gaze to Oscar, who stood beside Cielo.

Oscar had a dominant trait strong enough to suppress most Alphas, but to Typhon, he was still just a commoner.

“Did the young master of Doberman grow tired of you already? So now you’re spreading your legs for the brat you practically raised?”

“……”

“And where did such vulgarity come from, I wonder?”

As Typhon clicked his tongue again, Cielo lifted his head and looked at him.

His gaze, no longer wavering like before, made Typhon’s brow twitch faintly.

“I must’ve gotten it from my father.”

“What? You dare…!”

Typhon’s face turned red, then pale.

He stormed down the stairs, lifting his cane to strike Cielo.

“I don’t understand why Your Grace is so angry.”

“…What did you say?”

“Didn’t you say I was a bastard? If that’s true, then you must have forced yourself on my mother while she was married. That would make my real father the vulgar one. And blood doesn’t lie.”

Cielo didn’t bother hiding the bitter smile on his face.

Typhon’s grip on his cane tightened.

“But isn’t it strange? My hair and eyes look exactly like yours, Your Grace.”

“……”

“The sky-blue hair and eyes said to be the Esteban family’s symbol—must be quite common in the Empire, if a supposed bastard like me can have them so vividly.”

The mother in the real Cielo’s memories, Aire, had snow-white hair and warm brown eyes.

If Aire had truly been unfaithful, there was no way Cielo could’ve inherited sky-blue hair and eyes.

Those features belonged only to the Esteban bloodline.

“You insolent brat… how dare you!”

“Why did you make me out to be a bastard, Father?”

At Cielo’s words, the household staff began murmuring behind covered mouths.

But all that came from their lips were things like, “Has he gone mad? What is he doing all of a sudden?”

Which meant, in truth, all the servants already knew Cielo wasn’t illegitimate.

“Was it just to hurt my mother?”

“……”

“How could you use your own child for something as petty as adult grievances?!”

The moment Cielo mentioned Aire, Typhon—who had been standing still—suddenly swung his hand.

Smack!

A loud sound echoed as Cielo’s cheek snapped to the side.

He staggered, about to collapse, but Oscar rushed forward and caught him by the arm.

“Master.”

“I’m fine.”

“……”

“I’m alright.”

Suppressing the tremble in his hands, Cielo straightened his back again.

Typhon let out a cold smile and said,

“Do you think I’ll acknowledge you as my legitimate son? After all this time?”

“I’m only claiming the right that should have been mine all along.”

Because of the label of being a bastard, Cielo had suffered endlessly.

If not for Typhon’s claim, even Sol and Pielago would have continued to regard Cielo as their younger brother.

When the three of them first met,

They had treated Cielo—who resembled Typhon and themselves—as a blood sibling.

But Typhon had indoctrinated them with the false belief that “no Omega can be born from the Esteban family.”

Because of that, the twins came to believe Cielo was illegitimate.
