Becoming the Terminally-Ill Villain Who Torments His Disciples - Chapter 67.1
Typhon abruptly turned and began climbing the stairs with Cielo following behind.
“Yes… perhaps this should have happened from the beginning.”
“…….”
“This isn’t a failure. We’re simply heading down the correct path now…”
As he walked, Typhon mumbled incoherently, as though he had forgotten Cielo was there.
“Not one, but two… Yes, the more the better. It wasn’t in the original plan anyway.”
Cielo frowned. If Typhon had said something he could at least guess the meaning of, it would have been better. But his muttering was completely incomprehensible.
After quietly following for some time, Typhon finally stopped in front of a door.
“This is…”
The third floor of the mansion—the most remote and secluded room.
Cielo recognized it from the memories of the real ‘Cielo.’ It was the room where Cielo’s mother, Aire, had once been imprisoned.
“Go in.”
But something felt wrong.
Typhon had forbidden not only Cielo but everyone in the family from approaching this room. And from the time Cielo turned twelve, no one had been allowed on the third floor at all.
And yet now, he was being told to enter?
“Is there some connection between the Esteban family’s secret that the legitimate heirs know and this room?”
“You’ll understand once you’re inside.”
His calm reply only made the unease crawling up Cielo’s chest grow worse.
But this wasn’t a situation he could just reject outright.
Swallowing dryly, Cielo grasped the doorknob. Before turning it, he brushed a faint trace of his pheromones onto it—so Oscar could sense and follow if needed.
He stole a quick glance at Typhon, doing his best to conceal the tension in his expression.
Even though it was just a trace, Typhon was an Alpha—he might notice.
“Is opening a door that difficult for you?”
Thankfully, it seemed Typhon hadn’t noticed.
“…No, it’s not.”
Taking a slow, deep breath, Cielo turned the knob.
And as soon as he pushed open the door—
“Urgh!”
A revolting stench hit him with full force from inside.
Without meaning to, Cielo lifted his arm and covered his nose and mouth with his sleeve. Typhon’s face contorted in anger as he snapped:
“Hey! How disrespectful of you, Cielo. To act so rudely in front of your mother after all this time!”
“My… mother…?”
Muttering faintly, Cielo trailed off as his eyes landed on something black atop the bed.
The entire room reeked—and that stench was coming from there.
The decayed body of a person, decomposed to the point of being unrecognizable.
Parts of the skeleton were exposed, and bodily fluids had soaked the bed black.
Only one thing told him that this was Aire: the white dress draped over the corpse.
“This… What is this…”
He couldn’t speak.
If she was dead, why hadn’t she been given a proper burial?
Why had her body been left to rot until it reached this state?
And why was he being shown this now?
Countless questions piled at the edge of his throat, but none came out.
As he stood frozen, staring at the corpse, Typhon suddenly shoved him from behind into the room.
When Cielo turned around in shock, Typhon kicked him hard in the pit of his stomach.
“Gah!”
The sudden impact sent Cielo sprawling to the floor.
“When meeting an elder of the family, what’s the first thing you’re supposed to do? Didn’t I teach you that? You really have no manners.”
Gripping his aching stomach, Cielo forced himself to sit up.
Curling up in pain would only give Typhon a better target to strike.
“Get a hold of yourself.”
“What?”
“How… how could you treat someone who has already passed away like this…”
The pain in his abdomen throbbed endlessly.
Still, Cielo lifted his eyes to glare at Typhon.
He didn’t know why Typhon had brought him here—
but one thing was certain.
‘He means to kill me.’
Whether that was rooted in feelings toward the real ‘Cielo,’ he couldn’t say.
From what he remembered, Typhon had shown no interest in anyone—aside from Aire.
So there had to be a specific reason he was trying to kill him here, of all places.
“Dead? Ha! Are you saying Aire is dead?”
“…No one would call that a living person.”
“Hah, haha. Hahahaha! Fine, go ahead and say whatever you want. It’s the last time anyway—what rudeness could I not forgive now?”
“…Last time?”
Typhon shook his head and stepped inside, locking the door behind him.
Then, tapping the floor a few times with his cane, he pointed toward the locking mechanism—
and flames burst forth, melting it down completely from the inside.
There was no way to open the door from within now.
“Aire will come back to life.”
“……”
“Using your life—and the lives of your brothers.”
As soon as he said it, a loud noise came from the wardrobe in the corner.
Someone trapped inside was banging on it, as if begging to be saved.
“No way…”
“Originally, I planned to resolve this with just you, Cielo.”
As he slowly approached the wardrobe, Typhon flung the door open.
With a dull thud, someone inside collapsed to the floor.
It was Pielago.
His body was burned in several places, and he was bound with rope.
“I left it to them, but they couldn’t even kill a single child…”
Click click.
Typhon clucked his tongue and drove his foot into Pielago’s heaving chest.
