Becoming the Terminally-Ill Villain Who Torments His Disciples - Chapter 69.1
After leaving the Esteban mansion, Oscar headed straight for the Doberman residence.
The entire way there, a heavy silence hung between the two. Naturally so—Pielago had once tried to kill both Oscar and Cielo.
“Um…”
As they walked awkwardly side by side, Pielago finally broke the silence. Oscar shot him a sidelong glance.
“Do you have something to say?”
Like master, like disciple. Pielago gave a small cough, struck by how much Oscar’s tone resembled Cielo’s.
As if trying to make clear he wasn’t an enemy, at least for now, he spoke in a voice laced with concern.
“As soon as Cielo healed me, he coughed up blood. Do you… know why that happened?”
“Hard to believe his own brother wouldn’t know that.”
“……”
“His health has never been good. Someone turned him into a sacrifice to summon a demon using his own body.”
Pielago decided it was best to shut up.
“Still… thank you.”
“What?”
“If it weren’t for you, Master would’ve suffered far worse.”
The moment Cielo left with Typhon, an unknown unease had surged through him. Not long after, he caught the faint trace of Cielo’s pheromones—followed by a flood of anxiety and dread that filled his entire mind.
‘It didn’t feel like my own emotions.’
It felt as though he were directly sharing what Cielo was experiencing.
‘Could it be related to how I can now only detect his pheromones?’
It was thanks to his heightened sensitivity to Cielo’s pheromones and emotions that Oscar had been able to find him so quickly.
“If anyone should be saying thank you, it’s me.”
Pielago silently looked at Cielo. Those vivid sky-colored eyes he had seen earlier remained etched in his mind.
That clear sky that had said, “It’s okay. I trust you.”
“If I were Cielo… I never could’ve trusted me.”
It was true that relying on Pielago was the easiest way to escape that situation.
But Pielago had tormented and abused Cielo for years. He had done enough that it was impossible to expect trust. Yet Cielo had believed in him. And without hesitation, healed his body.
“If I were Cielo… I would’ve just let me die.”
No, perhaps he might have dragged him down to hell, gripping his ankle, saying “Then let’s die together.”
But Cielo had saved not only himself, but even Pielago.
“Whatever the situation, don’t live your life hiding behind excuses. What you and your brother did to my master will never be erased.”
“……”
“If you’ve done wrong, then struggle with guilt with everything you’ve got. And whether you’re forgiven or not—apologize to him.”
“……”
“If you’re sincere, then even if no one else does, my master will accept you. Because he’s the one who taught me that.”
Oscar murmured as he placed a kiss on Cielo’s round forehead.
His words were filled with such warmth they almost burned.
And basking in that heat made Pielago feel too ashamed to raise his head.
Had they been informed ahead of time? When they arrived at the Doberman estate, its famously impenetrable gates opened smoothly.
“They are waiting for you inside.”
As a servant politely guided Oscar in, Pielago glanced between him and the Doberman servant in disbelief.
“Do you come here often?”
“No. We’re not close enough to drop by like this.”
And yet, as soon as he stepped out of the carriage, Oscar strode confidently up to the front door.
He even glared at the servant who tried to take the unconscious Cielo from his arms—making it seem like Oscar was the master of the house instead.
“But why come here? If you want to avoid Father, wouldn’t the Imperial Palace be safer?”
“Say that in front of Lord Doberman and he’d laugh in your face.”
The Emperor usually followed Typhon’s every word without question. If Typhon asked the palace to hand Cielo over for family matters, they’d likely comply without hesitation.
Which was why, right now, the safest place was the Doberman duchy.
“And besides—don’t you want to see someone?”
“……Who?”
“Your brother.”
Pielago’s eyes widened and he swallowed dryly. He had searched every inch of the Empire and come up empty—he had thought Sol was dead. But he’d been here at the Doberman estate all along?
As his lips began to part in disbelief, Oscar spoke again.
“He’s alive and well. Not too badly hurt, either.”
