A certain rumor began to spread.

It said that Ryan Almatart Doberman, the eldest son of the Doberman family, had awakened his ability at the mere age of seven.

Not only that, but this seven-year-old Ryan was said to possess an unbelievable talent with the sword.

Upon hearing this, people cheered that Ryan would grow to surpass even the Esteban twins.

“How dare a Doberman…”

Upon hearing the rumor, Typhon clenched his teeth and balled his fists.

He never so much as blinked when sons of other noble houses achieved great things, but whenever the name “Doberman” came up, Typhon reacted as if he’d met a lifelong enemy.

“At the very least, surpass that bastard.”

“…”

“If you’ve done nothing but freeload until now, you should at least act like a human being!”

From that day forward, Typhon began behaving as if he expected something from Sol and Pielago.

That they should become someone greater than Ryan. But Ryan was a man with absurd talent—so much so that he was called the genius of the century.

Unlike the twins, he had grown up receiving immense attention and care from his parents from an early age.

Of course, there was no way the neglected twins could surpass him.

“Useless brats!”

Realizing the twins’ ignorance, Typhon belatedly assigned them a new tutor.

“Surpass everyone who bears the Doberman name. I’ll hand over the heir’s position to whoever defeats even one of them.”

When they heard those words, Sol and Pielago felt their hearts stir, however faintly.

They had said they would no longer seek Typhon’s affection—but somewhere deep down, the desire to be acknowledged by their father still lingered.

“Yes, Father!”

“Yes.”

But unfortunately, talent was not something granted to all.

When Sol and Pielago turned eight, their abilities awakened on the same day, in the same place.

However, their powers were so unremarkable that not only others, but even the twins themselves failed to recognize that their abilities had manifested.

“Useless children. There’s no way things like you could be the offspring of me and Aire… Yes, it must be that Aire carried another man’s seed. If you truly had Esteban blood, you’d never be such fools. Never!”

Eventually, Typhon went as far as to deny that Sol and Pielago were his children.

And so, the fleeting attention he had shown them withered away in less than a year.

But the twins didn’t stop.

Even if it was just for a moment, he had shown them interest once—so if they caused trouble again, maybe he would at least scold them.

Then one day…

While playing with bugs in the garden, Sol spotted a child through the window of an upper floor.

“That kid…”

Hair as light as the sky. Clear, bright blue eyes like crystal.

The child looked exactly like them.

“…Who is that kid?”

But before long, the curtain was suddenly drawn shut.

“There’s another child in this mansion besides us.”

“They definitely looked like us. So… a younger sibling? Or maybe an older one?”

“Let’s meet them.”

Excitement welled up in their chests.

Was that child in the same situation as them?

Then why didn’t they ever leave their room and stay there all alone?

Unable to contain their curiosity, the twins entered the central hall and tried to rush up to the third floor—

“What do you think you’re doing, barging in here!”

Typhon suddenly blocked their way.

Panting for breath, he wouldn’t let them go up.

Sol and Pielago widened their eyes in shock.

They had never seen Typhon so flustered in their lives.

“W-We were just…”

“We saw a child in a room on the third floor…”

“A child?”

At their words, Typhon’s face twisted in rage.

“Don’t tell me…”

He muttered briefly, then struck the floor with his cane a few times before storming toward a certain room in a fury.

Not long after all that noise—

“They’re coming out!”

“So cute…”

A child, much smaller than Sol and Pielago, appeared.

That child’s name was… Cielo.

“You’re so different from us.”

Less than a month after meeting Cielo, Pielago pouted and said so.
