“……I should go back to my room and rest today.”

Cielo, who had wiped the corners of his eyes, left the temporary clinic and headed toward the estate. Although the distance wasn’t far, perhaps due to fatigue, it felt unusually long today.

“So tired…”

Come to think of it, he hadn’t seen Oscar for two weeks, having been so focused on caring for patients.

“I miss him even more today.”

He didn’t think he was the kind of person who struggled to control his emotions, but strangely, when it came to Ryan and Oscar, he became more vulnerable than ever.

“What should I do…”

It was a question that kept coming back to the same point.

Should he continue this distant, indifferent relationship with Oscar, who didn’t remember him? Or should he let go of all his feelings and distance himself completely?

“I’ve also heard that you’re promised to marry Lord Doberman soon.”

The wedding the three of them had promised to hold together once everything was over. Would they really be able to hold that wedding?

Cielo, who had been walking slowly, suddenly came to a halt.

He didn’t want to let go.

He had mustered so much courage to be greedy for this. He didn’t want to give up just like this.

Just as he inhaled deeply to steady his thoughts—

“……Sir! Sir Cielo!”

Someone urgently called out to him from the end of the hallway. When he turned around, the servants were running toward him with frantic expressions.

“What’s the matter?”

“A demon beast, a demon beast…!”

“A demon beast appeared?”

“N-no! While clearing away the corpse of the demon beast, someone got poisoned! They said only you, Sir Cielo, can treat it…!”

As if they didn’t even have time to explain, the servants grabbed Cielo’s wrist and pulled him along.

Dragged along halfway, Cielo suddenly had a thought.

“Osc— I mean, isn’t Count Pascius there? He should have healing abilities too…”

“That’s— that’s not possible!”

“…What?”

“He tried multiple times. But no matter what, even if other wounds heal, the poison from the demon beast doesn’t go away…!”

Cielo’s eyes widened at those words.

Finally grasping the severity of the situation, Cielo quickly followed them. When they arrived, a woman was writhing on the floor, clutching her arm and sobbing uncontrollably.

“Hold her down firmly.”

At Cielo’s words, those nearby rushed to restrain the woman’s body.

Cielo approached and examined the wound. Through a small cut between her fingers, the demon beast’s poison seemed to have entered. The area was turning black and the discoloration was spreading up her fingers.

“Shhh… It’ll be okay now.”

Taking a deep breath, Cielo briefly gauged his own condition.

His head hurt and a fever was slowly rising in his body, but it didn’t seem to interfere with his ability to expel the demon poison.

When he closed his eyes and focused his strength, a bright white light flared from his fingertips.

As the soft white light enveloping the woman’s arm faded, it seemed as if the pain vanished all at once. The woman looked at Cielo in surprise.

“…!”

At that moment, he felt something heavy press against his chest.

Cielo furrowed his brows and pressed down hard over his chest. Thankfully, it wasn’t as painful as in the past—enough to make him faint or cough up blood.

“So it’s true that being connected through a contract with a demon caused a huge burden on the body…”

Now that the contract had been severed, the recoil after using his powers wasn’t as severe as before.

“……Th-thank you. Thank you so much! I can move my hand again!”

Cielo quietly looked at the woman who kept expressing her gratitude. It seemed the paralysis caused by the demon poison had completely lifted, and she was now smiling brightly.

“Paralysis…”

Cielo paused for a moment in thought, then suddenly raised his head.

He looked directly at Oscar—and Oscar, who had been silently standing nearby, began trembling slightly under that gaze.

“Oscar.”

Cielo called his name softly as he approached him. Oscar didn’t respond; he only stared quietly as Cielo came closer.

“I have a request.”

“A… request?”

“Just once… please let me heal you.”
