By Some Unbelievable Twist, I Became the Villainess’s Older Brother - Chapter 21.2
Enoch’s face went white in an instant. His mouth fell open as he stared at Adelio.
“Wh-what are you doing right now?”
“What do you think? Can’t you tell? I’m preparing to have a serious conversation.”
“What utter non-”
“You didn’t seem inclined to answer, so I was merely trying to make you feel like answering.”
Adelio covered Enoch’s mouth with one hand as he struggled in alarm, then shrugged. He wrapped his other arm around Enoch’s waist and pulled him even more tightly against his side.
“Urgh…!”
“Oh dear. Sir Enoch, such a lewd moan won’t do.”
This lunatic! Enoch swallowed the curse inwardly. Their bodies were now practically plastered together.
He tried to shift again to put as much distance between them as possible, but Adelio’s strength soon pulled him right back.
Enoch swayed from the sudden force, then flinched. He had realized that his face was far too close to Adelio’s.
Adelio’s distinctive peony fragrance lingered at the tip of his nose. Of all things, it was Enoch’s favorite floral scent.
Adelio silently watched Enoch’s face twist in irritation. At such close range, Adelio’s breath scattered across Enoch’s face.
Of course, Adelio’s hand still covering Enoch’s mouth prevented the two of them from colliding.
But perhaps because they were meeting each other’s eyes from inches away, a strangely charged atmosphere flowed between them.
Adelio stared into those forest-green eyes, wide with alarm and darting frantically. After a moment of silence, he asked in a husky voice.
“Now, tell me. I’ve given you quite a lot of time, haven’t I?”
“……”
He made it sound as though he were showing mercy, but Enoch was not fooled. He already knew that behind Adelio’s smiling face lurked another, snarling and ready to bite him the instant he told even the slightest lie.
But how was he supposed to speak in this position? Enoch remained stiff, merely staring blankly at Adelio with restless eyes.
In the end, he stayed that way for quite some time. Then he lowered his gaze and glanced at the hand covering his mouth.
Only belatedly noticing what he was doing, Adelio said, “Ah,” and removed his hand from Enoch’s face. Then he urged him once more.
“I told you to speak.”
“Haa. …I had no choice either.”
At Enoch’s answer, Adelio’s brows slanted sharply, perfectly reflecting his mood.
“Why?”
“The First Princess has sent me five invitations so far.”
“To you? Why?”
“Who knows? According to what she wrote, she merely wished to ask how I was and meet me for a conversation.”
Adelio fell into thought for a moment, rubbing his chin. Enoch, of course, had no interest whatsoever in what he might be thinking.
He wanted only to get off Adelio’s thigh at once and planned to move while the man was lost in thought.
But when Enoch so much as twisted his waist, this uncannily perceptive man seemed to read his mind and tightened his arm. Enoch squeezed his eyes shut at the sensation of a thick arm constricting his body.
“Is that all? Then what about me? You must have forgotten everything I said. Didn’t I make myself clear before I left?”
What had he said before leaving? Enoch was puzzled, but had no time to think. The arm around his waist grew steadily tighter.
Struggling to push Adelio’s arm away, Enoch shouted.
“No, what in the… Urgh, and let go…!”
“Ah.”
Adelio gave a small exclamation and finally released Enoch’s waist. Panting, Enoch rubbed the spot where Adelio had held him.
The man did not look especially large and even had a slender waist, yet he was absurdly strong. Enoch had truly thought his body would be torn in half.
At that moment, a warm hand suddenly approached and slipped boldly beneath Enoch’s shirt.
