By Some Unbelievable Twist, I Became the Villainess’s Older Brother - Chapter 29.2
The First Princess released a deep sigh of frustration, yet allowed the lady-in-waiting to tie the cloak. Once she had finished the knot, the woman stepped behind the First Princess again.
“Ailee. Have you ever seen me catch a cold? Why must I wear something so stifling? Tsk, it is terribly heavy on my shoulders as well.”
At her complaint, the lady-in-waiting called Ailee lowered her head and smiled.
“Even so… I know you’ve been healthy since childhood, Your Highness, but one never knows what might happen. Just look at the First Prince’s leg-”
“Ailee.”
Ailee had been speaking with a smile, but she froze in horror when she realized what had slipped out. Her lips trembled briefly before she dropped to her knees without a second thought.
Her knees struck the ground so hard that they bruised and bled, but no one cared.
“I-I’m sorry, Your Highness! I-I misspoke. I truly did not mean to. Please believe me!”
The First Princess had already stopped walking and now silently watched her. Cold eyes gleamed as she looked down at the trembling Ailee.
At the First Princess’s silence, Ailee’s body began to tremble faintly. The other attendants following them had stopped in place at a gesture from the First Princess.
After some time, the First Princess bent at the waist, took hold of Ailee’s lowered chin, and raised it.
Ailee’s terrified eyes met the Princess’s impassive gaze, which seemed to contain nothing at all.
“You say you made a mistake? What did you do wrong? Why was I unaware that you had committed any offense? Tell me in your own words.”
“I-I dared… dared to speak of the First Prince. B-but it truly was an accident! I meant nothing by it. Your Highness, please show mercy and forgive me just this once!”
“A mistake is not something like that, Ailee.”
The First Princess slowly straightened. Then she placed her foot on the back of Ailee’s hand where it rested on the ground.
She pressed down. A scream burst reflexively from Ailee.
But only for a moment. Ailee hurriedly covered her mouth and choked back the cry.
The First Princess paid no heed to her reaction and pressed down several more times before stepping back. The back of Ailee’s hand was already bright red from being crushed.
A satisfied expression appeared on the First Princess’s face.
“This is a mistake. Something utterly trivial. Something one can apologize for and be forgiven.”
“Hiic. Y-Your Highness. I truly am s-so sorry…”
“But what you said was not so trivial, was it? Ailee, how could I possibly forgive you?”
“N-no. Your Highness!”
“Take her away.”
The First Princess glanced at the attendants who had stopped not far away, then motioned with her chin toward the space behind them. Her personal guard, who had been standing there in silence, approached, seized Ailee by both arms, and began dragging her somewhere.
Ailee struggled, her face drenched in tears. Sobbing, she thrashed and reached toward the First Princess.
“Your Highness! Please forgive me just once! Your Highness! No, please, I beg your forgiveness!”
Ailee wept, pleaded, and cried out, but the First Princess never once looked her way. Her guard covered Ailee’s mouth and disappeared around the corner. Only then did the garden fall silent.
Every attendant kept their eyes forward and their breathing quiet. Everything was still and familiar.
The First Princess began walking again.
‘I do not believe he intends to become one of mine.’
‘Well. That depends on what you do. When that person entered Enoch Laochenes’s body, one of the brightest stars in the sky fell.’
‘……’
‘Remember this. The person who makes Enoch Laochenes theirs will become the next Emperor. You must be ahead of the Crown Prince. Without fail.’
