Guiding the Male Lead out of His Trauma - Chapter 4.1
At those words, the Count flinched. But he wasn’t so easily cowed.
“Ha, assault? Did you just say assault?”
“Count, it would be better for you if you don’t make me any angrier.”
“So, is it acceptable for a Manifester to attack a non-Manifester? Hey, Custodian! Arrest that crazy woman at once!”
At the Count’s outburst, two other custodians came over and put handcuffs on me. My wrist was already burning from the control stone, and now the cuffs digging in made it hurt even more.
“Liliope Ortis, unauthorized mana use is a grave crime, regardless of the reason.”
At the custodian’s cold words, the Count smirked. But his triumphant expression didn’t last long.
“But the reason you gave is at odds with the royal law set by His Majesty the King.”
The custodian looked at the Count with a chilling gaze and continued,
“As of today, until a higher order is given, no member of the Count’s household is allowed to leave the manor, and we shall immediately begin investigating the validity of Liliope Ortis’s accusation.”
With those words, the Count was visibly shaken.
If they dig even a little, it’ll become clear how the Count’s family treated Hyacine, especially since there must be plenty of people like that servant, who are easily swayed by those in power.
“If the accusations are found to be true, the Count’s title will be revoked, all assets confiscated, and you will face a minimum of five years’ imprisonment, up to the death penalty.”
At the custodian’s statement, the color drained from the Count’s face.
“W-What are you saying! I did it for the royal family! This kid still hasn’t shown any sign of manifesting…!”
“Even a prospective Manifester is considered national property. Are you not afraid, Count? To dare damage His Majesty’s property without fear. But before that.”
I turned to the custodian again and nodded indifferently.
“Liliope Ortis will be detained directly by the Awakener Management Bureau.”
As soon as she finished speaking, another custodian pressed mana into my control stone bracelet.
I’d probably lose consciousness for a little while. Hyacine would surely be startled, but this wasn’t something that would kill me. Besides, I was confident I wouldn’t receive severe punishment anyway.
However, despite the custodian’s words, as soon as Hyacine heard that I was going to be detained, his eyes changed.
It was faint, but I sensed something ominous.
That was because, as a Guide, I’m most sensitive to Manifesters’ mana. It was a strange pressure, as if the air around us was being pulled toward Hyacine.
‘…Mana anomaly?’
But it was strange. Why did it seem like the other custodians hadn’t noticed yet?
‘But this is definitely the sign of an anomalous reaction.’
Before the first manifestation, you can get a rough sense of a prospective Manifester’s rank from reactions like this, where the surrounding mana is being drawn in.
This phenomenon is caused by the body of a Transcendent who can draw in mana. It usually occurs in high-ranking Transcendents…
And it was Hyacine, of all people, who was showing this anomalous reaction.
‘As expected, just like in the original story, Hyacine has a high chance of manifesting as a high-ranking Transcendent.’
Seeing my own younger brother so agitated and reacting ominously, I quickly locked eyes with him.
“Hyacine, calm down.”
“But you…!”
“It’s fine. Really, you can calm down.”
I reassured Hyacine without much concern. I couldn’t take the time to explain things properly to him, but—
‘Who would dare lay a hand on the sister of an S-Class Transcendent?’
Looking at the expressions of the custodians around us, it seemed that they were finally beginning to notice the mana reaction around Hyacine.
