His voice was heavily hoarse and cracked, half-raspy. Even so, Ruellin’s huffing breath suddenly quieted down. Before long, a faint trembling could be felt from his chest. Raising his head halfway to steal a glance up at me, Ruellin, with a thoroughly drenched face, let out a small laugh.

“……You barely just returned, so what on earth are you talking about? I am neither a spy nor a demon. I am Your Excellency’s Grand Consort.”

“That is, I…”

I didn’t mean to say something like that. Tristan could not find the words to answer and made a flustered face. Shaking his head side to side, Ruellin let out a light sigh. Standing on his tiptoes, he wrapped both arms around Tristan’s neck. Soft lips brushed against his ear. A tearful whisper continued playfully.

“So…… does what you just said roughly mean that you like me?”

Tristan rolled his eyes rapidly. It felt like he shouldn’t just let things pass like this. It was just when he hurriedly parted his lips to add something.

Ruellin shrugged his shoulders and grinned. His long eyes crinkled, curving softly like half-moons.

“It seems like a lot of words were omitted, but I will consider it a proper confession. Therefore……”

Suddenly, it felt as though the surrounding temperature had dropped chillingly. With an expression as if he had received a challenge to a duel rather than a confession, Ruellin concluded resolutely.

“I cannot grant you a divorce, nor can I bear to see another Grand Consort moving in. Since Your Excellency confessed first, you must take responsibility.”

“……”

A divorce and another Grand Consort. He could not understand what kind of terrible things Ruellin was saying. Turning serious, Tristan reached out his hand and covered Ruellin’s mouth.

“There will be no such thing. I, for one, have no idea what on earth you are talking about.”

Even so, it was a relief that Ruellin counted it as a confession. Inwardly, Tristan swept a hand over his chest in relief.

Like this, everything found its rightful place. He had finally reached the place he had wanted to return to so desperately. He would accumulate memories here for a time longer than the span he had walked until now. By the side of his young consort with whom he had spent his nights and days.

This place, Hezekia, was good because you were here.

❖ ❖ ❖

“The demon of Walpurgis…… Come to think of it, when I first saw you, I had a similar thought as well.”

While explaining how the incident grew so large, the story of how I had been falsely accused even came up. However, Tristan’s reaction was a sight to behold.

“……What is it, right now?”

Are you picking a fight? In the midst of all this?

Abruptly pushing myself up from the bed, I gave a light swat to Tristan’s arm wrapped around my bare waist and glared at him. At that, Tristan chuckled submissively and pulled me into his embrace.

As our chests pressed together, the refreshing scent of bare skin brushed past. A light breath swayed softly above my head.

“Otherwise, how could a person bewitch someone so instantly like that? When you were sitting helplessly in the dungeon, I couldn’t stop my eyes from tracking you.”

What…… is he suddenly confessing? Becoming a bit embarrassed, I pointlessly glared into empty air for no reason and quietly rolled my eyes. Smiling lightly, Tristan pressed his lips firmly against my forehead.

As a kiss as light as a feather continued several times, goosebumps broke out along my spine. The fresh body scent that spread to fill the bedroom gently pressed down upon my entire body. A tingling sensation momentarily surged up from deep within my lower abdomen, causing my toes to curl up.

However, using all my might, I shook off the temptation and pushed Tristan away with both hands.

……At the very least, I made a show of it.

“You cannot. Didn’t the doctor say that you must absolutely rest in stability for the time being?”

Of course, I am a man too, so it wasn’t as if that thought didn’t cross my mind……

To begin with, we are buried in such a plush bed, facing each other without wearing a single thread of clothing while I am held by Tristan…… But exactly when did it become like this? The speed at which Tristan stripped off my clothes was tremendous.

“What are you thinking about? I merely expressed my respect and affection to the Grand Consort.”

“Yes, yes. At any rate, you cannot. Didn’t they say it would be a disaster if your wounds reopen? Just coming all the way to the estate with that body was overexerting yourself.”

“This much is nothing……”

“What kind of bluff are you putting up? They said it is a miracle that you are even alive. Do not even dream of having stray thoughts.”
