To reiterate, Sawyer is a tall, well-built, and genuinely handsome man who only acts timid in front of Tristan. However, lately, he has become deeply immersed in his “little bird” roleplay, and now he has started calling himself in the third person, even referring to himself as “the little bird.” It seems he actually enjoys it.

However, the more he did so, the more Tristan’s expression twisted.

“That information is a top secret of Hezekia. If you convey this to the Dearsby side, it will cause a great uproar.”

“If you are concerned, Grand Duke, you may break the little bird’s wings. You may keep the little bird locked in a cage until the work is finished.”

“…”

Furthermore, he has now started behaving without restraint even in front of Tristan. He truly lived up to his status as Tristan’s fated arch-nemesis and a blossoming revenge villain from the original story.

I believe one of the old keywords for him was even something like “extra-level obsessive top villain (wishlist)…”

I feel a chill running down my spine, and I sincerely hope that it is just my imagination.

“You are not a vassal of Hezekia, nor do you have any connection to the Grand Ducal House. What is the reason you are going to these lengths?”

“It is for revenge, My Lord.”

“Revenge? Do you have a grudge against Everett? Or… was it the Dearsby side?”

Come to think of it, Sawyer’s father, the underworld information broker Fen, once spoke of such things. He said that he had a deep grudge against Dearsby from the time they began their piracy.

In the original story, Sawyer was so busy waging a war of revenge against Tristan that he effortlessly ignored his father’s grudges. Is he trying to play the part of a dutiful son, at least a little bit, this time?

Although “a little bit” is an understatement, as he is being extremely active.

However, Sawyer shook his head with a light laugh. Then, he spat out an answer as if it were nothing.

“I heard that Everett dared to try and harm the Grand Consort. I heard it was almost a disaster, was it not?”

“Hmm? Ah, are you talking about what happened in Belforte? That is correct…”

“…So it was true. I have been so devoted to my business in the northern continent that I have been neglecting my activities as a little bird. Such a heinous thing happened, yet I missed it. It is my negligence. I apologize, my lord.”

“No, well… I am alright, though…”

It was an event that even I had forgotten about for a while because things had been so eventful. It was certainly not something for Sawyer to apologize for.

Still, I could not just tell him that it was none of his business, so I nodded in a daze, and a strange light flashed in Sawyer’s eyes. A feeling that seemed like burning rage, or perhaps a tenacious obsession, swirled beyond his dark, sunken pupils.

“Attacking the Dearsby pirates is a great opportunity to break Everett’s wings. We must have our revenge, my lord. The little bird will spare no support for this revenge. Please use me to your heart’s content.”

“Revenge? Ah, well, that is true? Th, thank you…?”

Every word he spoke was correct. He was truly worthy of the title of a revenge villain. I thought that keyword had been deleted when Sawyer was reborn, but it seems it has been revived.

Of course, if the empire’s greatest information broker stood on Hezekia’s side, we would be able to catch Dearsby and Everett off guard. However…

“Meyer. Did you just say revenge?”

“Yes, my lord. I intend to take revenge on Everett.”

Exactly why are you the one taking that revenge…

As expected, Tristan’s thick eyebrows twitched the moment he heard the nonchalant reply. I hurriedly grabbed his hand and barely managed to calm him down.

The original story had already proven that Sawyer did not have malicious intent, nor did he even want to be with Ruellin. So, this was a sort of fandom. If Sawyer wanted to take revenge on Everett out of fan-like devotion, it was better for everyone if we just let him do it.

Even if it was a fandom tinged with a bit of madness… In any case, it was a huge relief that the revenge villain was not an enemy of Hezekia in this lifetime.

❖ ❖ ❖

Preparation for the attack proceeded calmly, yet rapidly.

This was the opponent who had inflicted great pain upon Hezekia just three years ago. Even now, my head spun at the thought of when Tristan went missing. Back then, we were helpless and suffered, but the situation had changed now.
