“Well, it did not seem to have very good performance. Should you not replace the whole main body? The gap will only grow larger from now on, and if you need to update every time it happens, you will be unusable forever.”

You are being too harsh.

I had not made anything up, so I did not understand what was so harsh. But the System must have felt wrong, because it continued to display letters in the air.

Please remember that if the events guided by the System disappear, it will be difficult for the user to achieve the goal.

Then it said something completely unexpected. A goal. We have a goal between us.

“Um. What is the goal? Were you not just throwing random events at me.”

Impossible.

The System reacted sharply again. So there was a purpose hidden inside those events that seemed to have no context. It was surprising.

I tried to be careful so I would not provoke the System while I asked.

“What is that goal? Can you tell me.”

The goal of the user and the System is…

“What is the goal?”

Was it just making something up? I narrowed my eyes and pressed the System because it was suspicious. The System answered in a hurry.

It is to create a way for the user, the villainous Grand Consort, to escape the brutal ending. The System takes the role of a navigation that leads that path.

The System is a navigation. When it freezes every time.

Besides, it had not even performed its role very properly for something like that. No matter how I thought back on the events the System had shown, they did not seem to have helped me move away from the brutal ending at all.

The user is steadily moving away from the brutal ending. The favorability of the Grand Duke Tristan is steadily rising.

The System shouted again. But I shrugged and refuted it.

“So are you saying that is because of your events? I do not think so.”

I mean, do you not remember the time when you threw some ridiculous event at me telling me to act cute to raise his favorability. I attempted something like being cute, only to watch Tristan’s expression distort in real time.

If I had done everything the System told me to do, I would have been brutally killed many times over. The outcome I have now is because I wrapped up the events moderately, avoided what needed to be avoided, and that is what I gained.

“Ah, wait a second.”

There was something that caught my attention in what the System had said. I called the System again, slightly surprised.

“Hey, what did you just say? You said Tristan’s favorability is rising.”

The last time I checked, it said the fluctuation was too severe and it could not measure the favorability properly. Does that mean it can measure favorability now?

And that it was going up.

A little hesitant, I spoke to the System.

“So, what is Tristan’s favorability? Not that I care.”

Are you curious about the number measured by a System that does not even help you achieve your goal.

“…”

The System suddenly became arrogant. If I was curious, I should first acknowledge its help. That was the attitude.

But that was that, and this was this. It was true that it was not very helpful. I shook my head and answered.

“It already looks like the brutal ending is avoided. No matter how you look at it, Tristan does not seem like he will execute me.”

My sweet boy would never do that. I added the comment with a small smile.

“So what is the favorability?”

Please remember that the one who carries out the brutal ending is not necessarily Tristan.

Instead of giving me the answer I wanted, the System complained and said something unrelated. But the reply did not sound ordinary.

“That is true.”

I had skimmed through the original story and thought so. Even if Tristan did not execute Ruellin, Ruellin would have eventually been killed brutally by Everett, once Everett had fully taken everything he could from him.

Even if Tristan quieted down, that did not mean I was safe. Right now, the highest risk seemed to be Everett.

No, even if it was not Everett, it could be his stepfather Count Dearsby, or his biological mother Countess Dearsby.

It did not seem like the time to relax and trust the gentle Tristan and feel safe. Now that I knew the situation, I needed to take care of my business before the System went down again.
