‘How am I supposed to get fresh vegetables right here in the middle of the ocean!’

Even though I knew the answer, there was no way to actually implement it.

❖ ❖ ❖

“Scurvy…… I have read about it in old texts before. I thought the records left by old sailors were unreliable, but it turns out this disease actually exists.”

Tristan, who had been quietly listening to my explanation, spoke as he recalled his memory. He was half certain it was scurvy, but he had been slightly doubtful whether the same disease existed in this world, so he received my words with relief.

“Really? Your Highness, you have also seen records of it, so you would believe me.”

“Evidence is unnecessary. You have never been wrong in what you say. However……”

Tristan slightly furrowed his brow and pointed out the part I had been concerned about.

“The key is how we are going to get fresh vegetables.”

At least it was fortunate that we were not in the middle of the open sea. We would reach the eastern continent’s coast within a few days, and if we were lucky, we might find some edible seaweed. The closer we got to the shore, the more nutritious seaweed could be found.

“There should be some way. Let’s try to find it.”

“What do you mean?”

An even luckier point was that I was from the peninsula. If I had grown up in a foreign country where seaweed like miyeok or parae was considered disgusting, there would have been no solution at all, no matter the body swap.

I quickly turned around and called Gehardt, giving him urgent instructions.

“Gehardt. Tell the sailors to lower the nets. Spread them as widely as possible on the surface and collect all the seaweed that floats by!”

Gehardt, who had been quietly observing Tristan and me discussing, seemed extremely startled. He opened his small eyes wide and fumbled for words, rolling his pupils nervously.

“Eh? From the sea…… seaweed…… Do you mean, Your Grace, Grand Consort? But there should be no edible seaweed……”

“In this area, sargassum should be floating. With luck, we might even find miyeok or parae washed down from the coast.”

“……Sargassum…… is that something edible? Miyeok and pa…… parae…… what are those……?”

“Miyeok and parae are……”

I paused, unsure how to explain. There was no time to waste. I could simply show them instead of trying to name them differently. Time was of the essence.

“……For now, just spread the nets and collect everything you catch. Sargassum is, of course, edible.”

I explained in detail, emphasizing the importance, worried they might throw away the sargassum thinking it was trash.

“It is brown with small round grains. At first glance, it might look like moldy moss……”

“‘Might look like’ is just moldy moss, isn’t it, Grand Consort?”

“……No. It is edible.”

I had never eaten it myself. It would probably taste extremely strange, but that was not the concern at the moment. In the navigation records Tristan had read, sailors suffering from scurvy had boiled and eaten sargassum.

However, as I gave instructions to Gehardt, the sailors and even the knights stared at me with pale faces. When I looked at them, they all turned their heads and then, one by one, began whispering in anxious voices, staring at the sea.

“Sea moss……? You mean to make us eat it……?”

“Really? That will cure that terrible disease?”

“No matter what the Grand Consort says, this is absurd……. That moss is where fish hide……”

I am telling you it is not moss……

Amid the murmurs, Gehardt and several knights were flustered. The reactions of Sir Mildred and Sir Johannes, who were from noble backgrounds, were even more exaggerated. Even usually taciturn Sir Johannes glanced nervously at the sea and moved his lips.

“Grand Consort. Even so, giving sailors something like sargassum to eat……”
