No, this had been happening all along. I was not in good condition, and Tristan had been slowly releasing his pheromones to calm me. It was something he had to do to help me maintain my condition. Thankfully, because of the long voyage, none of the sailors were omegas.

Even thinking that, my cheeks kept flushing.

With Tristan’s help, I finally got back onto the ship. My body was limp and weak, but I managed to stand upright.

Leaning half on Tristan’s shoulder, I took a deep breath and looked up at the sky. From high on the mast, the huge sail was fully unfurled. The ship was moving forward, slowly but surely. The tension, fear, and despair that had filled my mind and body began to ease.

“You did well, Ruellin.”

“What did I do…”

All I had done was cry and be carried by Tristan, so I felt utterly embarrassed. The real effort had been made by Tristan, the knights, and the sailors. When I shyly averted my eyes, Gehardt quietly came closer and laughed heartily.

“You have done well just to hold on, Grand Consort. Truly, well done!”

“…You worked hard too.”

It was not exactly praise, but I replied appropriately with a small smile. I wanted to continue enjoying this rare peace with them, but my body still felt weak. Tristan, noticing my pale condition, stretched out an arm to support me.

“Rest in your cabin first.”

“Yes, that would be better.”

Shaking my head slightly, I managed to take a few steps. Tristan seemed like he wanted to carry me again, but after surviving the crisis, everyone appeared relaxed, staring blankly in our direction. Feeling slightly embarrassed, I insisted I could walk and carefully moved forward.

Once we returned to the captain’s cabin, I collapsed onto the bed, completely drained. As soon as I fell from Tristan’s arms, fatigue swept over me like a tidal wave. My entire body felt soft and melting, as if dissolving. I felt Tristan brush my bangs back. I thought I heard a quiet voice whisper near my ear.

But before I could gather my senses, I sank into a deep, unbroken sleep.

When I awoke, the air was cool. It was a feeling I had not experienced while trapped in the windless area. The cool, refreshing sensation made me stir my eyelids and move my head slightly.

“Tristan…?”

I barely opened my eyes and saw Tristan sitting by my bedside. He hurriedly leaned over and helped me sit upright. I wanted to ask why he was here, whether the fleet was sailing smoothly, but no sound came out. My lips were cracked and dry, tasting faintly of blood. Only then did I realize I had not had water for quite a long time.

“Drink some water, Ruellin.”

Noticing my state, Tristan brought a cup of water to my lips. The cool liquid slid down my throat, filling my body. The burning heat in my throat began to subside. It felt like discovering an oasis in the middle of a desert. I let out a long sigh and leaned against the headboard.

“Do you feel a little better?”

“I think I will survive. But was there any water left?”

Surprisingly, the water tasted fresh, without the musty flavor of old water. I looked up at Tristan, a little puzzled. His expression seemed noticeably bright, though only subtly so.

Tristan nodded lightly, his mouth curving into a gentle smile.

“There is now enough drinking water. While you were asleep, it rained. Luckily, we did not discard the canteens when we unloaded the cargo, so we were able to collect enough rainwater.”

“Ah, that is truly a relief.”

The food supply was still insufficient, but having adequate water meant we could endure a bit longer. Even I felt like I could survive for now.
