In the Name of God - Chapter 104.1
“Ah… hello.”
Kwon Jeong-han blinked awkwardly as he offered a hesitant greeting. His wrist was still firmly held in Lee Sunho’s grasp.
Because of his sharply angled eyes and ever-confident impression, it was easy for anyone to misunderstand him, but contrary to his appearance, Kwon Jeong-han was easy to talk to and surprisingly had many relatable, human sides.
Besides, hadn’t he suffered all by himself running around to take full charge of reporting what happened in the large-scale raid on our behalf?
Even if only out of gratitude for that, I viewed him quite favorably, but Lee Sunho did not seem to share that view.
“What are you doing?”
“Blocking an obstacle.”
Not even an ‘interferer’, but an ‘obstacle’.
After glaring at Lee Sunho for treating Kwon Jeong-han completely as an object, my gaze inadvertently drifted downward.
This bastard had his arm wrapped around my waist before I even noticed. Perhaps because my lower body sensation was dulled after he lowered its pain sensitivity to almost numbness under the pretext of worrying about me, I did not even realize when Lee Sunho had wounded his arm around me.
I tossed Kwon Jeong-han the exact same greeting he had given me.
“Hello.”
Then, before dealing with the arm hugging my waist, I tapped the back of Lee Sunho’s hand that was gripping Kwon Jeong-han.
“Are you planning to snap it? Let him go already.”
“Okay.”
He listens so well.
Lee Sunho obediently let go of Kwon Jeong-han’s wrist. Instead, I felt even more strength going into the arm wrapping around my waist. When I glared sharply at him, he smiled brightly as if asking back if anything was wrong.
“Let go of this too, will you?”
“You stumbled just now, didn’t you know? Your senses really have dulled a lot.”
“I am completely fine now, okay?”
“Ah, I was lying, but seeing you say ‘I am completely fine now’, your senses must have dulled for real. Just in case, I will hold you up a little longer.”
“You are exceptionally shameless today, aren’t you?”
Glaring once more at Lee Sunho, who smiled without a word, I looked at Kwon Jeong-han as I felt his stinging gaze on us. Kwon Jeong-han, who I naturally thought would look at us with strange eyes, was surprisingly calm. Even the moment our eyes met, he changed the subject without any particular reaction.
“So you guys got promoted too.”
“Yeah. That is how it turned out. You must be Rank 5.”
“Even at Rank 5, not much has changed. Just that my workload increased a bit?”
To him, who smirked slightly, I spoke with a somewhat apologetic voice.
“I heard you suffered quite a bit doing all the reporting in the meantime? Sorry we couldn’t help.”
“No, you do not need to mind things like that. Even though I was called around here and there, the questions were almost identical, so there was nothing to get a headache over.”
Waving his hand to say it was fine, Kwon Jeong-han added.
“I heard you guys are scheduled to be summoned soon too. I will send you a copy of the report I submitted later, so use it as a reference.”
“A copy of the report? Are you allowed to do that?”
“It should be fine if I don’t send the official report and just write down the contents separately.”
“That is hardly something an Awakener belonging to the association, who is practically a public servant, should say.”
At my response, Kwon Jeong-han glanced back and forth between Lee Sunho and me.
“Still, it is better than our testimonies contradicting each other.”
Only then did I understand why Kwon Jeong-han was trying to pass over a copy of the report.
It was set so that the three of us defeated the boss of the large-scale raid together.
Even though I had been unconscious and had not even seen the face of the second boss monster, Lee Sunho and Kwon Jeong-han submitted the report as if everyone, including me, fought together until the very end. If not for that, there was no way to explain my mana depletion and injuries.
Especially since the second boss monster was not just a normal monster, but a mutant beast surrounded by dark energy. Since it was a dangerous monster that would continue infinite regeneration unless its central axis where energy gathered was broken accurately, all of us needed to match our words precisely regarding how we raided it.
In fact, Kwon Jeong-han could have held a grudge about sharing the credit for defeating the boss with me, but he did not seem to mind that at all.
‘As expected, he is a good guy.’
Just as I was reaffirming Kwon Jeong-han’s good nature in my mind, he thoroughly scanned me up and down.
“More importantly, are you okay? I heard both of your hands were broken and you were bedridden all this time due to mana depletion. I thought you would be lying down for a while longer…”
“I shook it all off and got up this morning. As you can see, both of my hands are completely fine too.”
