In the Name of God - Chapter 15.1
A shiver ran down my spine as I quickly turned and saw Lee Sunho staring at me from a distance.
When our eyes met, he gave a bright smile.
The eerie gaze I had just felt lingered in my mind, so I whispered quietly to Echo.
“Lee Sunho is unharmed, right? Any monsters nearby?”
– Lee Sunho is completely safe. I scanned, and there are no monsters in the immediate area.
It was just my imagination.
Thanks to Echo, I finally felt some relief.
I opened the cylinder, removed the spent shells, loaded fresh bullets, and turned around.
Lee Sunho was still standing in the same spot he had retreated to earlier, silently watching me. A fixed, polite smile remained on his face.
I gestured for him to come forward. Only then did he approach, moving from his statue-like stance.
‘He listens well.’
His obedience was surprisingly pleasing.
I didn’t know his skill level yet, but having a calm and well-behaved party member like this would be really nice.
Perhaps my past party members had all been strange, I thought. The Seong Do‑yoon in my memory had terrible luck, so maybe it made sense that my current body would encounter unusual people too.
I lightly waved the now-warm gun in the air and met Lee Sunho’s gaze. He spoke before I did.
“Impressive. You seem to have a lot of combat experience.”
“Well… this is my eighth dungeon run.”
I answered vaguely, not wanting to go into too much detail. Someone with more dungeon experience than me would be common, but for Lee Sunho, this explanation would be enough.
“You weren’t surprised? It must be your first dungeon and first time seeing monsters.”
“I’ve studied the awakened training videos diligently.”
Ah, the tedious videos Seong Do‑yoon had nodded off to several times. I thought it was bold of Lee Sunho to have such courage.
Even rank 8s with some dungeon experience often die if they let their guard down.
‘Still, since he came as my partner, I decided I would keep him safe until we left the dungeon.’
As I moved forward, he suddenly stopped me.
“Wait a moment.”
Lee Sunho held me and looked me in the eyes.
“There’s blood on you.”
His cool hand touched my cheek. Having moved slightly, my skin was slightly warm, which made his hand feel even colder.
His long fingers gently wiped away the green blood of the lizardman. My cheek felt slightly hotter where he had touched.
“Are you okay?”
I shrugged lightly.
“You just saw. I’m fine.”
“No, you’re not.”
His usual polite smile deepened slightly, and his calm eyes sharpened a little.
“Standing still like this… it’s unusual, right?”
Although he asked, his voice suggested he was certain.
‘How did he know?’
I thought so and then quickly realized it.
Then I noticed the small lights installed on the ceiling by the association throughout the dungeon. Even in the dim light, my corpse-like posture would look odd, so his observation made sense.
I turned away with an indifferent expression and walked forward.
“It only looks that way. No problem at all.”
My whole body ached, my head throbbed a little, a cold sweat had formed on my forehead, and my neck was tight, but it was nothing serious.
No limbs had been severed, no organs spilling out.
Echo asked skeptically,
-You seem to be thinking something terrifying, Master.
I ignored him and flicked my hood. I felt Echo roll inside.
As I walked calmly, Lee Sunho’s footsteps followed after a brief pause.
“If it’s hard, you can say so.”
“You applied just to watch, didn’t you? Stick to your role, Lee Sunho.”
“Yes. No popcorn, but I’ll cheer you on.”
He answered in a cheerful voice.
