In the Name of God - Chapter 32.1
Passing by the examiners and administrators handling the situation, Lee Sunho and I headed toward the waiting room where the team competition participants were gathered.
Lee Sunho, walking ahead of me in the corridor, suddenly turned toward me and spread his arms, as if he were going to embrace me.
“What are you doing?”
He could not possibly want a congratulatory hug, right? How disgusting.
“Hmm, I guess you could say I am ready to catch you.”
Lee Sunho narrowed his eyes and smiled.
“You have to be careful even when you faint. What if you hit your head on the floor?”
He patted his chest and stepped a little closer.
“Now, I will catch you safely, so just collapse comfortably.”
“Normally, I do not think people would say ‘collapse comfortably’ in front of someone who just vomited blood and fainted.”
“Hahaha.”
I studied Lee Sunho, who laughed lightly.
When we explored dungeons together, he often checked my expression, but he had never prepared for me to collapse like this. Even though my lifespan had increased by a week since then and I looked healthier, he seemed to act as if he were certain I would faint.
‘Unnecessarily perceptive.’
I lowered Lee Sunho’s arms and brushed past him.
“I am fine. You do not need to worry today.”
Today, I would not synchronize immediately and planned to leave the exam area within an hour.
So Lee Sunho would not see me vomiting blood.
But things did not go according to my plan.

I had heard that the promotion exam results would be announced in three days.
I thought I could just hear “the exam is over, you may leave” and exit the exam area.
“Awakeners whose numbers are being called now, please wait in your seats.”
Next to the examiner declaring the exam over, a man stepped forward. He was a man in his thirties, wearing a suit with a monocle that had a brilliant blue rim. His presence was extraordinary.
“Numbers 15, 198, and 211. Everyone else may leave.”
Those paying attention soon hurried out.
Before long, only three people remained in the waiting room.
I looked at the back of a blonde man sitting right in front of the podium.
‘If the examiners noticed anyone besides Lee Sunho and me, it would have to be that guy.’
Number 15.
In the individual competition, he had eliminated monsters in the blink of an eye, just like Lee Sunho.
His main weapons were two daggers crossed and strapped across his back.
In the team competition, he had faced the rock golem alone for twenty minutes while the rest of his party cowered. Despite that, he had not broken a sweat and possessed incredible stamina.
“Are you interested in him?”
Lee Sunho’s voice came from right beside me. Because we were seated according to our numbers, there had been some distance, but he was suddenly at my side.
“Do you want to party with him?”
Lee Sunho gestured toward number 15.
“Well, his skills are impressive, so if I go to a dungeon later… Why?”
Lee Sunho’s eyes slowly narrowed as he looked at number 15. Perhaps it was just my imagination, but his gaze seemed sharper.
After everyone from the waiting room, including the examiners, had left, the man with the monocle carefully examined us.
“The three of you are scheduled to be promoted two ranks. However, there will be a special interview, so follow me.”
Two ranks would put me at grade seven.
Exactly the rank I wanted.
From grade seven onward, I could accept E-grade dungeon quests, which meant I could extend my lifespan more generously than now.
Among those remaining, no one seemed surprised at the news of a two-rank promotion.
Number 15 glanced at Lee Sunho and me, his expression confident, as if it were a natural result. Lee Sunho, as usual, just smiled brightly.
The three of us followed the man, entering separate rooms for our interviews.
I was the last to enter. Unlike the other rooms, mine contained only a table and chairs, with no one else inside.
“Please sit.”
The man who had followed me closed the door. He appeared to be my interviewer.
