In the Name of God - Chapter 37.1
I was momentarily at a loss for words due to the strange feeling.
“…I’m the one who should make the request.”
I held out my hand to Lee Sunho and sat up. He sat down along with me.
“Could you handle what we did earlier again?”
“I actually liked it.”
A joke, of course.
Two dark men hugging and groaning? There was no way I could have enjoyed that.
“…Yeah. Better than something gross, I guess.”
Still, judging by the way he said it, it seemed worth enduring. If I could just hold out, that would be enough.
When you’re receiving help, it’s not the time to overthink it.
“But once we enter our respective clans, it won’t be easy to meet. You’ll be busy adjusting, won’t you?”
“Huh? Weren’t we joining the same clan?”
Lee Sunho’s eyes went wide.
“We’re partners.”
This time, I widened my eyes just like him.
“That’s only until we enter the clan… Wait, the same clan?”
I asked in surprise. Lee Sunho gave me a look as if to say, “Isn’t that obvious?”
“Why can’t we go together?”
It wasn’t that it couldn’t be done.
Normally, any Awakener would carefully choose a clan that matched their skill and tendencies.
They had to align with the clan in terms of personality, position, growth potential, and core values to last long.
Yet this guy seemed completely indifferent. He wanted to join the same clan as me, despite knowing how important clans are to Awakeners.
‘Does he have no thoughts at all, or is he just naïve…’
The more I observed him, the more aimless he seemed. In a good way, though.
“…Alright.”
He’s my painkiller, so I should take care of him.
“Let’s go together.”

Exhausted, I had tried to leave, but Lee Sunho held me back and fed me a luxurious dinner before finally looking satisfied.
He even brought a car and showed the will to escort me home, but I firmly refused, so that plan was canceled.
Still, he probably felt satisfied enough that his purpose was accomplished.
Back at his home, Lee Sunho entered and took off his coat. A woman who seemed to have stepped out from his shadow naturally caught the black coat sliding from his shoulders.
“You look in a good mood.”
“Yes. I am.”
Lee Sunho brushed back his bangs and smirked.
“It’s kind of refreshing.”
Seeing me in pain was still hard, but secretly, he seemed pleased that he could relieve even a fraction of my suffering.
Moreover, he had made his own necessity clear to me, so from now on, we could spend plenty of time together without hesitation.
Until now, all I could do with him was receive. Even if I wanted to give something, I could not. Even if I wanted to speak first, I could not.
When he looked away, I would pray dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of times a day for him to come to me.
Now, I could confidently go to him. I had even given him a reason to find me first.
I could not help but feel utterly happy.
Unable to erase the smile from his face, Lee Sunho walked to the large glass windows of the living room and drew the curtains halfway.
Beyond the tall windows, the cityscape stretched out brilliantly. Countless lights floated upward like stars from below.
Looking at that view, I remembered my own voice.
There was one thing I still wished for.
“…No backing out, Lee Sunho.”
I knew it was impossible, but…
“I wish you had called me by my real name.”
Lee Sunho’s bitter sigh touched the cold glass and faintly spread across it.
A woman standing slightly apart like a shadow watched him, her expression tinged with sympathy.

Returning home, I immediately headed to my room almost crawling after removing my shoes.
After the intense battle at the promotion exam earlier that day, plus enduring the three-hour penalty, I was utterly exhausted. Even with Lee Sunho’s help, I might have collapsed on the way home without sheer endurance.
Dragging my limbs like wet rag dolls, I managed to finish my shower.
I collapsed onto the mattress and turned off the lights. The house was so quiet that sleep came easily.
‘Ah, right, Echo.’
I nearly forgot it and almost fell asleep.
