In the Name of God - Chapter 4.2
The other two party members looked startled at his words.
The “provocation item” the young man mentioned was the bright yellow potion obtained from the mid-boss monster just moments ago. It was an item often acquired when dealing with mage-type monsters.
This potion emitted a pungent scent that only monsters could detect. It was typically used by tanks to attract the attention of multiple monsters at once.
And now, the bald man was suggesting to use that item right here and now.
“While this guy acts as bait, we go back to the place where we defeated the mid-boss.”
“What? Go back…?”
The two party members, shocked, slowly understood the bald man’s plan.
If the boss monster was currently focused on them, the room where the party’s supplies were kept should be empty.
“Are you seriously thinking of doing this?”
One of the party members swallowed dryly and gestured toward the fallen young man. Though he suspected the bald man’s plan, he asked anyway, driven by the little remaining guilt he had.
“That bastard can’t even walk right now. Or what, you going to carry him on your back and run?”
The bald man patted the shoulder of the questioning man.
“We just need to get out quickly and request backup. He drew the boss mob’s aggro for us, so we owe him that much.”
The young man’s shoulders twitched at the bald man’s ominous words.
“D-Don’t…! Ugh…”
Ignoring the pain wracking his body, the young man struggled backward along the floor until the hard, cold stone wall pressed against his back.
The bald man, having approached, poured the potion over the young man’s head.
The bitter, icy liquid dripped down his hair and face. His previously messy hair collapsed into place.
“You worthless piece of trash, you understand us, right? You’ve been stopping us from leaving, so cooperate.”
“N-No… I… I don’t want to…! Ugh!”
The young man struggled with all his might but was hit in the stomach several more times by the bald man before falling silent. Through clenched teeth, barely able to breathe, he muttered “save me,” but all three pretended not to hear.
“Fuck… feels like you just pissed yourself. Fits you well, man.”
Having poured the potion completely, the bald man tossed the empty bottle aside with a grin.
“While he plays with the monsters, people will come. Whether it’s a rescue team or a corpse recovery squad, who knows.”
The bald man snickered unpleasantly, then retreated behind a nearby rock with the other two male party members. While the boss monster was distracted by the young man, they intended to return to the room with the supplies.
Knowing all this, the young man could do nothing.
His battered body was too damaged to even take a full breath. His head spun so much that thinking clearly was impossible, and the room seemed to whirl around him.
Thud. Thud.
The heavy footsteps grew louder. The vibrations from the floor seemed to hit him from below, traveling through his entire body.
Boom!
A massive shadow fell over him.
He managed to lift his drooping head.
All he could do was tremble. His only weapon, a basic supply revolver, rested at his waist, but he did not have the strength to draw it.
‘These bastards… this is too much, even for them…’
From high above came harsh breathing. The overwhelming pressure and intent to crush him seemed to push him into the ground.
Through his blurred vision, the young man saw the enormous monster and noticed the three men hiding behind a massive rock.
“S-Save… me…”
The swing of the giant club and the movement of the men behind the rock occurred almost simultaneously.
“Fuck… you bastards…”
The curse, filled with despair and fury, was the young man’s final spoken words.
No.
It was supposed to be his final words.
<Death of the entity suitable for the divine descent, ‘Seong Do-yoon,’ confirmed.>
<Commencing synchronization process for □□□’s descent.>
<To facilitate smooth synchronization, the damaged body will be partially restored.>
Beneath the young man’s body, who had died as bait for the boss, a circular magic circle glowing blue appeared.
