In the Name of God - Chapter 40.2
I wiped my forehead as Lee Sunho handed me the core. Cold sweat had formed, but the battle had felt easier than before, so my condition was not too bad.
“I will submit the core today, so check the share distribution later.”
“Waa, thank you, party leader!”
The party members cheered brightly and began walking toward the exit one by one.
It was then.
The middle-aged tank, Im Wooseok, who had been walking ahead, stopped and turned his head.
He cautiously approached me and Lee Sunho.
“Um… Seong Do‑yoon, Lee Sunho.”
Im Wooseok pulled two business cards from the inside pocket of his jacket and handed them to us.
“If neither of you has joined a clan yet, how about ours?”
The card showed a symbol of a black-veiled man bowing inside a circular magic seal.
Clan Hades.
It was a mid-sized clan with some recognition among Awakeners.
“Although our clan has only been around for five years, we have various exclusive quests and Awakener-related solo business items…”
“Better not go there.”
Park Junggeon cut in.
I had thought he was heading toward the exit, but he had returned right next to us.
“They only give repetitive quests with no benefits, and every business item they run has poor reviews.”
Park Junggeon, rifle casually slung over his shoulder, glared at Im Wooseok alongside Estelle.
Although out of sight, Echo had scanned and transmitted the position again, showing that the martial artist Song Mingu was apparently eavesdropping.
‘Is the martial artist from Seong Do‑wan’s side?’
Overprotective or monitoring.
Meanwhile, Im Wooseok’s face reddened as he raised his voice, almost straining.
“Isn’t that… too harsh?!”
“It’s not harsh. Anyone in a clan would know this anyway.”
Park Junggeon showed no remorse.
He spoke calmly, as if reading out a fact.
“They especially lack long-range dealers. If you join, you will be exploited heavily.”
“W-what…!”
Im Wooseok’s voice trembled, whether from anger or embarrassment was hard to tell.
“What exactly are you?!”
Park Junggeon didn’t answer. Instead, he removed his half-glove and showed the back of his hand.
A fox tattoo with a black tail.
The moment Im Wooseok saw it, he clamped his mouth shut.
Park Junggeon, amused by Im Wooseok’s hesitation, smiled slightly and looked between me and Lee Sunho.
“Do you two… like free food?”

Clan Black Tail.
The symbol was a fox with a lush black tail.
Compared to the four great clans, the clan’s external recognition was slightly lower, but it was by no means small.
The clan had 500 members and three overseas branches, making it one of the global clans.
Scale, capital, and strength all ranked at the top.
‘I didn’t expect a clan as big as Black Tail to show interest.’
Although surprised by the outreach from such a large clan, I could not be completely pleased. I needed to confirm what conditions they offered and how they viewed me and Lee Sunho.
After leaving the dungeon, I followed Park Junggeon and Estelle Roland to a high-end Korean restaurant.
“Do you dislike places like this? I made an effort.”
“I just searched it up, so effort doesn’t matter.”
Park Junggeon teased playfully, and Estelle lightly tapped his side with her elbow. The force made him flinch and hunch over as he swallowed. Despite her delicate appearance, she was quite strong.
“Do not feel pressured. Eat as much as you like.”
I briefly scanned the table.
The table was filled with neat, high-quality Korean dishes, beautiful and elaborate enough that it almost felt wrong to eat them.
But I did not feel particularly excited.
It was probably due to the overwhelming culinary parade I had experienced at Lee Sunho’s home.
At Estelle’s urging gaze, I finally picked up my spoon and began to eat.
“I will enjoy the meal.”
After a short greeting, I tasted one dish at a time. The flavors were clean and refined, and I liked them.
But at some point, something kept appearing in my bowl.
“……?”
Lee Sunho, eating casually beside me, was placing meat onto my bowl with a calm expression.
From across the table, Estelle exclaimed repeatedly, “Oh my, oh my.”
