In the Name of God - Chapter 55.1
One of the two presences that approached in an instant dove toward the direction of the oncoming monster swarm. The other, arriving a step later, drew a weapon while standing with his back toward us.
“Covering you!”
It was the voice of Park Junggeon .
Why was he, a member of the 1st Division, in a place like this?
There was no time to finish that thought.
To assist his vision, I shone my phone’s light in the direction the monsters were charging. The light was not strong enough to illuminate the area clearly, but it was sufficient to distinguish silhouettes.
Through the dim light, I could tell that the person who had lept among the monsters was Estelle Roland.
Bang! Bang!
Park Junggeon’s long rifle spat fire toward the dark passage. The mummies at the edges, attempting to encircle the charging Estelle, collapsed one by one.
Meanwhile, Estelle brandished a thin, sharp rapier, taking down the mummies in front of her with unbelievable speed. Every time the rapier, shimmering with blue light, moved, it accurately pierced and penetrated vital spots. The monsters crumbled and fell before they could even let out a scream.
I felt like I finally understood how much Estelle had been hiding her true skills back when we cleared the E rank dungeon together.
‘The 1st Division definitely moves differently.’
There was no wasted movement in Estelle’s elegant sword dance, which looked almost like ballet.
Judging by the build and muscle definition of Park Junggeon, who was providing rear support with his nerves on edge to protect us, he was likely top tier in close quarters combat as well.
‘And their mana control, too…’
The blue aura surrounding Estelle’s rapier.
I could tell just by looking at it that it was mana.
She must have condensed the mana from within her body into the weapon to maximize its piercing power.
‘It would be hard to find a monster that couldn’t be pierced by that.’
The density and quality focused on the rapier were far more impressive than I had anticipated.
“This is why kids with good eyes are dangerous,” Park Junggeon said with a smirk, seeing the last monster skewered by Estelle’s rapier. It seemed he had noticed me analyzing the mana loaded into Estelle’s weapon using Hawkeye.
Lowering the long rifle he had been aiming, Park Junggeon scanned us from head to toe.
“You look more intact than I thought? I was worried you might have been crushed to death by the monsters, but I guess I worried for nothing.”
His tone was playful, but the part about being worried seemed sincere.
Just because a dungeon has newly emerged does not mean monsters start being produced from that moment.
The fact that a dormant dungeon has reared its head and opened its maw means that monsters have already been produced in overflowing numbers within it. That is why a massive number of personnel, sometimes seemingly excessive, is usually organized for the first raid of a dungeon.
Thus, his worry was not unfounded.
Estelle, having flicked the black bodily fluids of the mummies off her rapier, approached with a gentle smile.
“It seems there are no injuries. That is a relief.”
But why do these people think we are perfectly fine?
Shouldn’t they get the hint just by looking at this posture?
“I am injured, though.”
“What?!”
“Shouldn’t you notice immediately when I’m like this?”
Look, Lee Sunho is still holding me in his arms even now. Isn’t that obviously strange?
Park Junggeon scratched his cheek with an awkward expression.
“No, I… I just thought you were being carried because you were tired.”
“I thought… he was carrying you to move because he was afraid you might trip over the debris on the floor…”
These people are looking at me like I’m some fragile little puppy.
The fact that they thought it was perfectly natural for me to be carried moved my pride a little. I wanted to get down right away, but since Lee Sunho had become so sensitive about my ankle, I didn’t think he would ever allow it.
“More importantly, where and how are you hurt?”
At Park Junggeon’s question, I lightly shook my left leg. Even while doing this, the two arms of Lee Sunho holding me were incredibly stable.
“I sprained my ankle a bit while falling from above. It isn’t broken.”
“Right, they said you were swept up when the dungeon opened. Are you okay?”
“Yes, it doesn’t hurt.”
Thanks to a certain someone, I am perfectly fine, aside from my ankle still stinging a little.
Park Junggeon, who had rolled up my pant leg to check the condition himself, furrowed his brow. He nagged me not to lie, asking how I could say it didn’t hurt when it was so swollen. It really doesn’t hurt, though…
Park Junggeon scowled as if his own ankle were swollen, then suddenly glared at Lee Sunho.
