Idol of the Heavenly One - Chapter 59.2
“Maybe it was just… someone who came to the wrong place?”
I forced the words out, but my voice trembled.
At that moment, Baek Jae-heon, who was beside me, suddenly bent over and lowered his head. His shoulders began to shake, and I could hear the harsh sound of his breathing.
“…Baek Jae-heon?”
When I approached, he covered his face with both hands and muttered under his breath.
“Ha… ha…”
His eyes darted around wildly, filled with terror. The usual calm and solid expression he wore was gone. His gaze was that of someone in complete panic.
“Hey, what’s wrong?”
“Call… the police…”
“Huh? Wait, calm down first. It could just be someone who came to the wrong place.”
I quickly grabbed him as his legs gave out like he was about to collapse, but he shook his head, unable to finish his words.
“No… that laugh, it’s the same. It’s the same…”
“…What do you mean, the same?”
“It’s not time yet… there’s still a year left, so why…”
I didn’t even fully understand what he meant, but suddenly, thud—my breath stopped. Jae-heon had never told me anything, and I had no proof, yet I could instantly tell what he was talking about.
It was from a past life. Right now, Baek Jae-heon was overlapping the memory or shadow of something terrible that had happened in his previous life with what was happening now. I didn’t know what it was, but it must have been something that had terrified him deeply.
“I’ll call the police.”
I pulled out my phone and pressed 112. My fingers trembled so much that it was hard to press the numbers properly. After finally connecting the call, I hurriedly explained the situation.
“There’s an unknown woman standing in front of our door… she kept pressing the keypad, and when we spoke through the intercom, she laughed and disappeared. One of us is in a state of panic. Please come quickly.”
The police said, “Was there any harm done? We’ll be there immediately,” then ended the call. After hanging up, I took a deep breath. Looking at Jae-heon, who was completely shaken, I felt like I was about to panic too.
I quickly called our manager next.
“Hyung, please come to the dorm right now. Someone strange came and left. But Jae-heon’s condition is…”
Before I could even finish, the manager’s voice trembled.
[What? I’ll be there right now. Don’t open the door, no matter what.]
The manager, clearly alarmed, said he would come immediately. I could hear family voices in the background, and I felt a pang of guilt for disturbing him so late, but warning him about the suspicious person at our door took priority.
After hanging up, I went back to Jae-heon. His eyes were closed, as if he was trying to calm himself down, but his hands were still trembling. Without hesitation, I held them tightly.
A few minutes later, the doorbell rang. When I went to check, two police officers were standing outside.
“Uh, oh…”
I opened the door, and one of the officers immediately recognized me, hesitating for a moment. Then, realizing the seriousness of the situation, he told his partner to retrieve the CCTV footage. As soon as one officer left, the manager and the team leader rushed into the dorm, both looking grim.
“What happened?”
“There really was someone?”
With a shaking voice, I explained everything step by step. What I saw on the intercom screen, the unnervingly repetitive movement of the woman’s fingers, and how she laughed before vanishing.
When the officer returned with the CCTV footage, we all watched together, and everyone went completely still.
“There was definitely someone standing there. The figure appears to be female.”
“The face is hard to identify, since it’s covered by a mask and hat. But her behavior is definitely not normal.”
I sat beside Jae-heon, who was trembling again, and held his hand tightly.
The police said they would coordinate with the security company to analyze the CCTV footage and increase patrols in the area for the time being.
When the incident finally came to an end, a heavy silence settled inside the dorm.
My heart was still pounding hard.
The image wouldn’t leave my mind. I looked at Baek Jae-heon, who seemed broken beside me. I held his hand and tried to comfort him, but somewhere deep inside, a chilling thought kept creeping in.
‘This isn’t just some bad incident. There’s definitely something behind this.’
