Idol of the Heavenly One - Chapter 84.2
However, one person, Baek Jae-heon, wasn’t laughing.
Jae-heon was sitting slightly behind the camera, leaning back with his hands resting behind him. His expression was blank, and his eyes seemed hardened, fixed on something distant.
I thought he might be tired. Everyone is always short on sleep. So, I mouthed, “Tired?” but Jae-heon slowly shook his head.
Instead of answering, his gaze flickered briefly.
That bothered me more.
But since we were in the middle of a live stream, I decided to let it go for the moment.
“See you next time-.”
The broadcast ended after two and a half hours. As soon as the camera turned off, the members all stood up, saying they were going to rest. One by one, they headed back to their rooms, and Jae-heon and I walked down the hallway together. The members who had left earlier were already in their rooms, and their presence was nowhere to be seen.
So, I quietly opened my mouth and, in a hushed tone, asked Jae-heon, who was walking beside me, “What was that about earlier?”
After a while, Jae-heon, whose mood had lightened, started to look displeased again. I wondered if I had asked the wrong question, but I was still curious about the reason.
“Let’s go to the room first.”
Instead of answering, he pulled me along and quickly headed to the room.
Click.
As soon as we entered the room and the door closed, Jae-heon pinned me against the door. I tensed up, thinking he was going to finish what we started earlier, and swallowed hard. Jae-heon spoke in a gruff voice.
“Why do you call him ‘hyung’?”
“What?”
“Why do you call Joo I-rip ‘hyung’?”
“I… because he is my hyung?”
It was an unexpected question. Why wouldn’t I call my hyung ‘hyung’? I replied, confused, and Jae-heon’s displeasure deepened.
“You’ve never called me ‘hyung’ before.”
“Well, that’s true… But are you sulking because of that?”
“I’m not sulking.”
“You are sulking.”
“I’m just jealous.”
Huh? He’s admitting it so openly? Usually, people would insist they aren’t sulking. Jae-heon’s unexpected honesty made me chuckle.
“Why are you laughing?”
“Just… you’re childish yet mature at the same time?”
But he was being childish by sulking over something so minor, yet his ability to acknowledge and express his emotions was quite mature. Of course, Jae-heon is an adult. Having lived multiple lives, he’s experienced more than most. However, since he never lived past 21, his life experiences, though numerous, lack depth, making him seem immature and inexperienced in some ways.
‘Maybe I’m the same?’
I wondered. I also have memories of my past life. Maybe I’m just pretending to be older, still stuck in that time.
But I did live to be fifty. That’s a significant difference. There’s a subtle but definite gap between someone who has lived a full life and someone who hasn’t. I could feel that gap.
So, I didn’t think I would feel jealous if Jae-heon called someone else ‘hyung’ or ‘nuna.’ It’s just a social courtesy. I didn’t care about titles or honorifics.
Still, since Jae-heon said he was jealous, I didn’t want to dismiss it as mere childishness. Instead, I appreciated his honesty. Jealousy, love—all emotions are genuine. After all, we’re in a relationship.
“Childish yet mature? What does that even mean?”
“I don’t know.”
When I shook my head with a smile, Jae-heon pressed his lips to mine, as if telling me to stop laughing. That led to more, and I reached out, cupping his face and kissing him back.
Anyway, I don’t think I’ll feel jealous. Jae-heon has a face that belongs to everyone, and as an entertainer, he meets a lot of people. Plus, my personality is such that even if I saw Jae-heon embracing someone else in a photoshoot, I’d just brush it off as part of the job.
…Or so I thought. But that was all just a bluff.
