Something’s Not Right About This Transmigration - Chapter 2.1
There was a novel called 〈In a World of Despair〉.
It was a harrowing, emotionally devastating BL novel with an omegaverse setting. Yuseong had started reading it after a friend recommended it, saying he should give it a try if he liked transmigration stories and didn’t care about genre.
It was a bleak world where human lives were worth no more than dust. An epidemic of unknown origin was even running rampant, and characters with substantial roles sometimes caught the disease and died.
‘Frey Rubellia,’ a character in that story, was both the only person capable of curing the epidemic and a recessive omega.
“The problem is that he wasn’t the protagonist…….”
As Yuseong remembered it, people conducted countless studies in an attempt to cure the epidemic known as Rosifer. In this world, however, healing people with magic was commonplace, so medicine itself had never properly developed.
The research therefore failed to yield any meaningful results, and those who contracted the disease could only wait for the day they died.
Then one day, when it became known that ‘Frey’ was the only person capable of curing Rosifer, people asked for his cooperation.
‘Frey’ hesitated at first, but ultimately accepted their proposal…… and was found dead and cold the following day.
Yuseong, who had been reading 〈In a World of Despair〉, had also been struck by a vehicle and killed the moment he read that scene.
“Fuck.”
If he had at least learned who the culprit was before he died, he might have felt a little less frustrated.
But damn it all, he hadn’t even discovered why ‘Frey’ was killed, much less who the culprit was.
And so, after a week of deliberation following his transmigration, he reached a conclusion.
He didn’t give a damn whether an epidemic ran rampant here or not. He’s going to run away!
It was already unfair enough that he had died after being hit by a vehicle. What was the point of transmigrating if he only stayed here and died again?
The man who appeared to be his father kept spouting strange nonsense about marriage and such, but that was none of his concern either.
There was only one thing he needed to think about.
His absolute survival.
When someone transmigrated into a novel containing even the slightest hint of misery, the best course of action was always to get as far away from the original story as possible and live as an ordinary citizen.
“That’s how it always worked in the novels I read.”
So now he just had to pack his things and leave.
He had to escape sometime today if he wanted to avoid getting swept up in some kind of incident. It seemed he would at least meet the man he was supposed to marry tomorrow.
Duke Samuel Norbert.
Despite his high status, he spoke politely to everyone and was the very image of a well-mannered noble.
He was described as quite handsome and refined, but every mention of him seemed inevitably followed by the word lunatic.
In the original story, he was portrayed as a man who could not be satisfied until he possessed everything he wanted. Like the arrogant high-ranking noble he was, he often behaved in ways that defied common sense, without the slightest awareness that anything he did was wrong.
“Well, I suppose that’s why he kept chasing after the main bottom and insisting he liked him even while he was married to ‘Frey’.”
Samuel was one of the reasons Frey intended to run away.
Even after the marriage, Samuel became so preoccupied with the main bottom, Leo, that he neglected ‘Frey’. No, saying he treated ‘Frey’ coldly would probably be more accurate.
“Even if I coax a man like that onto my side, what difference would it make?”
Besides, the plot established in the original novel wouldn’t be easy to change. Even if he tried to win Samuel over, the man was unlikely to become his ally. It was better to leave without getting curious about anything.
“Let’s see…….”
For these reasons, the engagement to Duke Samuel Norbert shall be considered null and void…….
Frey stopped writing.
If he was going to run away, was there any need to leave something like this behind?
