Swallow Hunting - Chapter 22.1
“What’s that?”
“The boss I know gave it to me because it was leftover. Set up the table. Let’s eat together.”
Looking at the bag, it was golden-brown fried chicken. Having slept a wink, his appetite returned. Hae-jun stood up quickly, but then let out a groan and clutched his waist. The aftereffects of the dawn still remained.
“What’s wrong?”
“I just stood up too fast.”
“Be careful. Your back is going to give out like that.”
It felt like it had already given out. Hae-jun tried his best not to let it show as he set up the table and sat down. Yohan, who had come out after washing his hands, opened the chicken box. Hae-jun took the drumsticks, and Yohan took the breast meat. One of the reasons their friendship lasted so long was surely thanks to their tastes in food.
While he held a drumstick with both hands and tore into it, his face began to sting. Yohan was chewing on some breast meat while staring intently at him.
“What.”
“Nothing, you just have the face of someone whose ass got wrecked.”
He had heard Yohan’s unfiltered remarks thousands of times, so it shouldn’t have been surprising, but this one hit hard. A piece of chicken that was going down his throat struck his windpipe. Hae-jun, caught in a severe coughing fit, wheezed.
“What kind of crazy talk is that?”
This ghost-like man. He was like a master of intuition who could lay out a mat in Myeong-dong to read fortunes for foreigners and sit on a pile of money.
“Is it true?”
“I said no.”
“Stop lying.”
Yohan’s eyes narrowed. Even if he confessed the truth, Yohan wouldn’t particularly care, but he decided to keep the matter with Lee Kang-ju a secret for now. He didn’t have the courage to confess just yet.
“Aren’t you going to work?”
“Today is my day off.”
“Must be nice. Want to go in for me? I’m not in good condition today.”
“As I thought, it’s because your back got wrecked…”
“Oh, you crazy bastard, I said no!”
Even though he shouted in anger, Yohan just smirked with one corner of his mouth raised and chuckled. He looked like he knew everything.
Pretending to be offended, Hae-jun put down the chicken he was eating and stood up. To Yohan, who asked if he was going to eat more, he shouted, “I’m not eating!” like a rebellious teenager and went into the bathroom to wash his face before coming out.
“Seriously, Cha Hae-jun, I told you to tone down that temper.”
“Stop teasing me, you lunatic.”
“Hurry up and go. If you’re late, the boss there will throw a fit. I’ll leave some chicken, so come back later and eat if you’re hungry.”
As if he were going to take a nap, Yohan crawled under the covers. Feeling bad for getting angry for no reason, Hae-jun hurriedly cleaned up the table and got dressed. Having rested a bit, his physical condition was better than it had been in the morning.
***
He was lucky from the start. He was chosen by the very first customer of the shop.
Hae-jun went into the room, acted charming with plenty of aegyo, and poured drinks. He drank skillfully. Since his body hadn’t completely returned to normal yet, he had to regulate himself. He used the technique of secretly dumping alcohol into the ice bucket while pretending to be moderately tipsy.
He avoided the second round. The atmosphere with one customer had ripened, but his waist was throbbing so much that he couldn’t possibly spend the night with anyone. Setting aside concerns about erectile dysfunction, there was no semen left in his testicles. He had spent only one night with Lee Kang-ju, but it felt as if in that single night, every bit of semen he had accumulated throughout his life had been completely drained. It felt like he would need a full month of rest for the pouches between his legs to regain their function.
He spent several days like that. There were times when his pockets were dry because he couldn’t do second rounds, but this week, his financial luck hit the jackpot; customers gave him quite a lot in tips, saying they felt good, that he sang well, or that he was cute. In the middle of it all, a loan shark came by and acted out by kicking him in the shin, but when he handed over the money he had earned, the man just showered him with curses and left. These were days similar to his usual ones.
“Hyung, have you been taking care of your body lately?”
While he was lying on the sofa in the waiting room playing a mobile game, someone suddenly spoke to him. A slick face and a greasy smile. It was the Ace. As expected, he had forgotten the man’s name.
“No.”
“You look like you’re in your prime, though. Your skin has improved too.”
“Really?”
“Yes. You have a glow. The customers are talking about you too. They say you’ve become prettier lately.”
“I was always pretty.”
He replied nonchalantly, but he couldn’t help the corners of his mouth from turning up. Hae-jun looked at his own face through the front camera of his phone instead of a mirror.
Was it because he had drained every single drop of old semen like scrubbing off old grime? His skin was as smooth as a peeled egg and his eyes were sparkling. He had lost a little weight, but thanks to that, his jawline and the nape of his neck seemed to stand out more.
‘Is that why I’m being chosen so well?’
…But why hasn’t there been any word from Lee Kang-ju?
