He was really crazy. The person who usually acted cold made a single gesture holding the door, and he got excited? You should just go die, you love-crazed idiot. How lonely and pathetic do you have to be to get this thrilled over something so trivial?

Before the meeting officially started, Jae-gyeong mentally scolded himself harshly.

His complexion was bad, and the focus of his eyes was blurred. Jae-gyeong did not even notice that all the other team members were staring at him.

“Da-sol oppa, what did you do to him this time?”

Ri-na whispered to Da-sol, who was sitting across from her.

“Wait, he didn’t really hit him physically, right…?”

Ye-jin also whispered for some reason. Da-sol looked slightly embarrassed and stared at Jae-gyeong sitting next to him.

Jae-gyeong looked pale, as if his soul had left his body, his eyes wide and unfocused at some point on the desk. Occasionally, his eyelids twitched, and his hands clenched and unclenched on his thighs.

Da-sol felt frustrated. Why the hell was this guy acting like this? He had said he would make an effort, and as part of that effort, he even held the meeting room door. Da-sol had noticed Jae-gyeong struggling for the past three days to prove his innocence, to show that he did not like Da-sol.

‘Could he be some kind of masochist? A freak who enjoys suffering and gets sad if you treat him well?’

No, that was not it. Da-sol had to suppress his instinct to immediately insult and suspect every man in front of him. Only then could it count as effort.

So Da-sol decided to think of it in a kind and gentle way.

The person who had seemed fine earlier suddenly went pale and froze as if possessed. All that had happened in the meantime was Da-sol saying he would try and showing a bit of kindness. Therefore…

“He must be touched.”

Da-sol came to that conclusion. Ri-na and Ye-jin looked at him in shock. Their voices rose at the same time.

“Oppa, are you really a psychopath?!”

“How is this what a touched person’s face looks like!”

The two women pointed out sharply. Da-sol pouted his lips and said in a sulky voice,

“I really am.”

Ignoring emotions and analyzing the cause-and-effect, that was the only conclusion.

Perhaps the women’s shouting brought Jae-gyeong back to reality. His eyes focused, and he looked around in surprise.

“Oh, sorry… what did you say…?”

He had truly lost himself. Since he did not even notice that no one had spoken to him, it was clear that his mind had wandered.

Ri-na, who never held back her curiosity, asked first.

“Shin-tangnim, what did Da-sol oppa say? That’s why he is spacing out like this, right?”

“Huh…?”

“It’s okay. You can tell us.”

Ye-jin kindly supported Ri-na. Both of them treated him like a newborn puppy, careful and understanding. Da-sol could only feel incredulous.

Alright, let’s see what happens. Da-sol looked askance at Jae-gyeong’s profile.

Jae-gyeong’s pale cheeks flushed instantly after hearing Ri-na and Ye-jin. He pressed his red cheeks alternately with the back of his hands, shaking his head. His long eyelashes trembled.

“No, it’s not like that… I was just thinking about something else… it’s not because of you, Da-sol…”

Even his lips trembled slightly as he muttered excuses. The ears hidden under his thick, dark hair had been bright red for a long time, far redder than his cheeks.

Jae-gyeong turned his hand over, covering his eyes with his palm, and glanced at Da-sol. His gray-tinged black eyes, slightly glistening with tears, met Da-sol’s gaze.

Da-sol had not realized Jae-gyeong had been observing him. When their eyes met, Jae-gyeong gasped and looked away, then tightly closed his eyes, forming wrinkles around them.

Watching this sequence, Da-sol felt strangely unsettled. Until now, he had barely noticed Jae-gyeong’s face, but this person… he was quite handsome. No, more than handsome, there was something that stirred people’s hearts.

For once, Da-sol even felt a slight sense of guilt toward Jae-gyeong.

“He said it’s not like that. Stop asking.”

Da-sol spoke to help Jae-gyeong. Since he seemed uncomfortable being the center of attention, Da-sol said this.

Fortunately, Ye-jin and Ri-na’s attention turned to Da-sol.

“Does the victim say it’s true? When the perpetrator is right next to them?”

“That’s true, Ri-na.”

“No, what victim, what perpetrator?”

Da-sol, unusually flustered, glared at Ri-na. She lowered her posture with curiosity, as if intrigued.
