  1. A Welcome Party

Jae-gyeong wondered if it might be better to hold a welcome party once the new bodyguard Hunter arrived. Even as he sat in the restaurant, ordering food and drinks, that thought lingered. But his doubts were quickly resolved.

“Da-sol, you heard earlier, right? Hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong has no intention of dating or being interested in love. So we must not overstep with him. Let’s treat him well.”

Ye-jin had suddenly said this.

“Still, Hunter Seo Da-sol does not act rudely toward just anyone.”

Jin Jeong-eon spoke as if defending Da-sol. But Hyeon Hee-ro, who was sticking close to Jeong-eon, pouted mischievously.

“Jeong-eon, Da-sol always acts rudely toward me. You need to scold him.”

“That is only because you provoked Hunter Seo Da-sol first, Hee-ro.”

“That is unfair, Jeong-eon…”

Whether Hee-ro pretended to sniffle or not, Jeong-eon looked straight at Jae-gyeong to reassure him.

“Hunter Seo Da-sol has gone through a lot of hardship because of male Hunters. In the past, conflicts happened often, and many misunderstood him. Hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong may have even seen related articles.”

“Yes…”

While at JK Guild, Jae-gyeong had seen Da-in receive three confessions a day. Before work, at lunch, and right after finishing work. On that day, Da-in had rejected three men. Jae-gyeong had pitied their brave but foolish actions, and he made sure to memorize their faces, names, and teams. Just in case they ever bothered Da-in later, he would have to deal with them.

Da-sol would likely be no different from Da-in. Especially as a healer, other Hunters might be even more reckless. Healers were exposed to far more danger than Hunters from other specialties.

First, healing-class Hunters did not gain muscle or strength like attack-class Hunters, nor did they have notable offensive skills. Yet, they were essential members in dungeons. Naturally, this made them vulnerable, and a bodyguard Hunter was absolutely necessary.

Furthermore, the healing skill itself used the healer’s own mana to heal others. The more others healed, the weaker the healer became. Many bodyguard Hunters exploited this, sexually assaulting healers who lost consciousness.

It was not only bodyguard Hunters. Healing often involved physical contact, combining the sensation of mana infusion with the feeling of the body being healed, which heightened emotions. Some Hunters interpreted this as sexual stimulation. In fact, many became physically aroused.

For these reasons, being a healer was an extreme class. That was why many healers trained physically, had awakened family members as bodyguards, or carried weapons at all times. Judging by his physique, Da-sol probably trained his body.

Jae-gyeong nodded firmly. He spoke carefully.

“I understand…”

Yoo Ri-na, who had been observing the conversation between Jeong-eon and Jae-gyeong, interjected.

“How old is the new tank?”

“The new tank…?”

“The rookie tank.”

Jae-gyeong thought it strange how everyone abbreviated things so casually but answered politely.

“I am twenty-seven…”

“Wow, the same age as Da-sol!”

Jae-gyeong had learned new information. Da-in was two years older than her younger brother. No, no… He decided not to think about Da-in anymore. He would just accept Da-sol’s age as it was.

“They should be able to speak casually and be friends.”

Ri-na alternated pointing at Da-sol and Jae-gyeong with her chopsticks. But Da-sol did not respond, nor did he even seem to notice.

He must be a little less social than Da-in. Or maybe his experiences as a healer had made him this way.

Jae-gyeong’s lips turned downward. Imagining Da-sol, who looked exactly like Da-in, being hurt and crying because of terrible Hunters did not sit well with him.

‘I need to protect him. Not because he is Da-in’s younger brother… just… because he is now my teammate.’

In truth, part of it was because he was Da-in’s brother and looked just like her. But Jae-gyeong denied it. He would no longer pursue love. Protecting someone was a noble act that could be done purely out of humanity.

“But if you are the same age, then you can speak casually. If the tank and healer get along, it helps the team. But do as you like.”

Hyeon Hee-ro said lightly as if passing by. Yet Jae-gyeong felt a certain pressure. It was as if the team leader had just ordered them to get along.

“Yes…”

Jae-gyeong quickly replied and picked up a bottle in front of him. As Hee-ro had suggested, he would try to build a bond with healer Da-sol.

“I… I will… have a drink with you….”
