He looked around. In the vast sky, he saw several floating islands about the same size as the one he stood on. Above them all floated the largest island. That was where the boss monster was located.

After all, this mock dungeon was only B-rank, and the difficulty itself was not high. The purpose of this training was to test how efficient the Ring of Communication was and in what situations it could be used.

So Jae-gyeong immediately brought the ring to his thumb and called Da-sol.

“Da-sol…? Can you hear me…?”

The band wrapping his thumb was moderately thick, and the gem set in the center looked like polished black obsidian when inactive. But when Jae-gyeong spoke into the ring, the black gem turned white.

About three seconds later, the ring on his thumb vibrated slightly, and the white gem shifted to bright red.

I can hear you. It even has a vibration function.

“Exactly! It really feels like a cellphone…!”

It communicates instantly, right? At first, it took some time to get used to the gem color and vibration.

“Yes, I can hear you immediately without any delay…”

The Ring of Communication (S) was better than expected. Voices came through loud and clear, and the sound quality was excellent. According to the manual he read yesterday, people without the ring could not hear the user, guaranteeing secrecy. Though there was no need for secret conversations with Da-sol inside the dungeon, it was still a reassuring feature.

– Let’s meet on the island with the boss.

Da-sol’s voice came from the red gem. The faint buzzing stopped, and the gem returned to black.

This is really nice. Definitely an S-rank item. Worth every penny. Jae-gyeong marveled and, while occasionally taking out appearing monsters, flew up to the top island.

He briefly wondered how the healer Da-sol would get up, but when he saw Da-sol tame a flying monster as if riding it, he laughed. Da-sol really was an impressive healer.

“You’re here.”

Da-sol dismounted from the monster and cast a healing skill on it. The monster shivered violently, rolled its eyes, collapsed, and started groaning.

“Why is it like this after healing…?”

“I set the healing strength to the maximum. You know how it feels when healing works well, Hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong.”

Da-sol left the words and began walking ahead. Jae-gyeong, understanding the meaning a beat later, flushed red. He still looked at the monster thrashing on the ground and muttered, “Gah…” The monster was receiving an overwhelming amount of magic from Da-sol’s healing and had gone beyond simply powered up—it was aroused.

‘I… I need to be more careful…’

Thinking that all the hunters in Da-sol’s eyes might look like that gave him goosebumps. Jae-gyeong closed his eyes tightly and followed Da-sol.

It took less than five minutes to defeat the boss monster. No other skills were needed. A few handgun shots finished the strategy, and the virtual reality simulation ended.

Da-sol and Jae-gyeong removed their VR equipment and looked at each other.

“The item works well.”

“Yes… really…”

“It would be better to gather the team and try a more complex structure than just the two of us.”

“I agree…”

“Hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong?”

“Yes… that’s correct…”

Da-sol noticed that Jae-gyeong was lost in thought. The red tint in his face looked like it was from the training, but that was not the case. Da-sol quickly identified the reason.

“Is it because of how I used the skill on that monster? Because I used healing like that?”

“Yes… uh, no!”

Jae-gyeong waved his hands, but seeing his face even redder than before, it was clear that the method had left a strong impression.

“Sometimes I defeat monsters like that. I do not know how other healers do it, but I do not do it often either.”

“…Ah… yes… truly… a… creative way… indeed…”

Jae-gyeong answered stiffly, like a robot. Da-sol laughed out loud. It was the second time he had seen him laugh so heartily, following yesterday. He wondered if this person naturally laughed this often.

“Do you worry that you might look that ridiculous yourself?”

“….”

Jae-gyeong bit his lip. It was embarrassing to have his thoughts read, and also… Da-sol’s bright smile was too beautiful.

Da-sol slightly unzipped the collar of his combat uniform and laughed again.

“Do not worry. You are nowhere near that level.”
