Because Da-sol was uncooperative and sharp as always, no one thought he was being strange, but Jae-gyeong was the only one who noticed that Da-sol was displeased about something.

‘Why is he acting like that…?’

Jae-gyeong looked around his surroundings. There was bound to be a reason, but it wasn’t visible to Jae-gyeong’s eyes.

‘Ah, could it be that Mr. Da-sol also… hates snakes?’

Perhaps Da-sol also hated the fact that he had to physically step on the vipers and leap over them. He probably wanted to ask Jae-gyeong for a piggyback ride, but given Da-sol’s pride, making that kind of request would have been impossible!

Jae-gyeong blamed himself for not picking up on it sooner. Yet at the same time, a sense of disappointment toward Da-sol welled up within him.

‘Even though he knows that if he just asks me, I would obviously carry him on my back… But he probably just hates the idea of touching me.’

It had been a week since he last saw Da-sol’s face, and even then, it was a situation where he only got to see him thanks to (?) the emergency gate bursting open. If the rights to raid this dungeon hadn’t gone to the Training Guild, he wouldn’t have known how long Da-sol would have kept avoiding him.

‘No… it’s true that I’m the one who did wrong… Why resent Mr. Da-sol, Jeong Jae-gyeong…’

Jae-gyeong turned back toward the front with a dark face.

Resenting Da-sol when he himself was the one at fault was a cowardly act. Because he had essentially been lying to Da-sol all this time. The time he spent searching for Da-in through Da-sol, crying or feeling his heart flutter because of it, wasn’t short. Of course, even if his current feelings had changed, it didn’t mean that what happened in the past never existed.

‘It’s only right that I keep avoiding him until Mr. Da-sol’s anger subsides. If he sees me, his blood will just boil and only harsh curse words will come out…’

With these thoughts, Jae-gyeong grit his teeth and endured for the past week, even though Da-sol was noticeably avoiding him. It had only been a week, but it was strangely painful not being able to see Da-sol, though he also felt he shouldn’t let himself grow that weak.

He understood Da-sol’s sense of betrayal. Da-sol’s anger and avoidance were things Jae-gyeong richly deserved to receive.

“Now, let’s move!”

Hee-ro shouted refreshingly. Jae-gyeong made an effort to empty the thoughts filling his head and moved his feet. Fortunately, before long, another new pack of monsters appeared, so he was able to quickly shake off his thoughts about Da-sol.

***

“This really is one for the history books, phew~”

A sweat-drenched Hee-ro spoke, blowing his bangs out of the way with his breath. Da-sol saw Jeong-eon gulping hard as he watched that, but he deliberately pretended not to notice. He just thought, even in the midst of this, that the two of them were truly something else.

‘Is love really that great? From where I’m standing, both of them look like total lost causes.’ Da-sol clicked his tongue internally at the couple, Hee-ro and Jeong-eon.

However, his gaze also soon drifted toward the very front. Standing at the vanguard to draw aggro and taking the brunt of the attacks, Jae-gyeong was also far more exhausted than he had been a few days ago.

They had been advancing for about three days now. This jungle was home to more monster species than any dungeon they had seen so far. Murder Crocodile, Murder Bat, Murder Horned Deer, Murder Beetle, Murder Tree, Murder Fruit… Why on earth were there so many creatures obsessed with murder? As they went deeper, not only animal-types but also plant-types and insect-types ran rampant, forcing everyone to dodge here and there in fright while launching their attacks.

During this time, not only had the team members’ magical energy dropped significantly, but they had also sustained many wounds. Because there was absolutely no time to rest, he couldn’t give anyone personal heals, and Da-sol was currently pouring out area-of-effect heals whenever he found a spare moment.

However, this was actually better for Da-sol. This was because it was still awkward for him to personally heal Jae-gyeong. Jae-gyeong also hadn’t used his heal priority yet, despite wearing the ring.

And somehow up to this point, everyone had been managing to hold out safely with area-of-effect heals and mana potions.

Just moments ago, Team 1 had succeeded in killing a cluster of ‘Murder Hell Plants (S)’ that suddenly opened their mouths to swallow the team members, and they were currently resting and reorganizing in a seemingly safe spot, sitting haphazardly while catching their ragged breath.

“But there really are a lot of monsters nesting here. I didn’t know a jungle could be such a space of diversity, personally.”

Ye-jin spoke while panting after drinking some bottled water. Over the past few days, her face had become covered in scratches and smudged with dirt and dust.

“This is the first time since becoming a hunter that I’ve done this kind of forced march,” Yi-hyeon spoke in a dazed voice. Since he was a C-rank, he would have been far more tense than the others, and therefore more drained of his strength.

“I just want to fucking crash and sleep… Not being able to sleep is the most painful part…”

Ri-na spoke, on the verge of tears. Just as she said, Team 1 had been unable to sleep properly for several days. Ri-na had loose, unfocused eyes as if she might fall asleep at any second. Her dark circles were also considerably deep.

“Are you alright, Hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong? Out of all of us, you must have expended the most stamina and magical energy.”

Jeong-eon asked.
