The Saint Wants to Rest - Chapter 25.1
The outside of the house was absolute mayhem.
In what would normally be a secluded residential area with no one around, dozens of people had flocked together, creating a chaotic bustle. The reporters, who at first had merely stayed gathered together, crossed the line at some point. There was the dull thudding sound of someone pounding on the main gate and high-pitched shouting as they thrust cameras over the fence. Even though it was a well-soundproofed house, it couldn’t block out the noise of people screaming with such determination.
“Choi Ian! We know you are inside!”
“Since when have you been in a romantic relationship with Vermouth?”
“Did your brother, Choi Jae-heon, also know about this? Did he condone it?”
It seemed they had already managed to find out Ian’s name.
The only thing he could do right now was list a string of curses aimed at Vermouth. Even when the dimension changed, why didn’t the things that guy did change at all? His modest dream of returning to Earth and living peacefully was shattered to pieces by the single bomb of a “scoop” that the man had dropped.
What would happen if Hyung found out about this? A chill ran down his spine for a moment. Just as he was thinking that, the buzzing sound from outside was cut off abruptly. A spine-chilling silence arrived, as if someone had forcibly turned down the volume of the world.
Subsequently, a powerful force weighed down on the atmosphere. The windowpanes vibrated minutely, and dust on the floor bounced upward. Ian instinctively raised his head. It was a presence that was so familiar and also dearly missed.
It is Hyung.
Choi Jae-heon released his ability without even getting out of the car.
The scene unfolding before his eyes was a spectacle. Those hyenas, who had tossed things like privacy to the dogs, were hanging onto the walls of his house. That house where Ian was holding his breath, how dare they.
“Everyone.”
Choi Jae-heon muttered as if chewing his words while opening the car door and stepping out.
“Get lost.”
Crunch!
With a single gesture of his hand, the lens of the broadcasting station camera standing at the very front was shattered. Only when the glass flew and the machine was crushed did the reporters scream and look back.
Standing there was the S-rank Awakened, Choi Jae-heon, with murderous eyes.
“Choi—Choi Jae-heon?”
“What on earth are you doing in front of my house right now?”
Every time Choi Jae-heon took a step forward, the reporters backed away like the parting of the Red Sea. However, among them, there was one person who tactlessly thrust a microphone forward. It was someone who had lost their survival instinct, blinded by a scoop.
“Choi Jae-heon! Regarding the relationship between your younger brother and Vermouth… Ugh!”
The question could not be completed. A massive, invisible hand choked the reporter’s neck and lifted him into the air.
“Ke-keuk…!”
The reporter struggled, but Choi Jae-heon’s expression was ice cold. The surrounding air froze in an instant. The intimidation of an S-rank Awakened was not a level a normal person could handle. It was murderous intent. The primal fear that they could actually die overwhelmed the reporters.
“I believe I told you not to touch my younger brother.”
Choi Jae-heon’s voice was low, but it was etched into their minds more clearly than any shout.
“I assume you are prepared to stake your life for an article?”
The reporter suspended in the air shook his head, his face turning ghostly white. Choi Jae-heon threw him to the ground like tossing away trash.
“I will give you three seconds. Vanish from my sight, and from the front of my house.”
There was no need to count to three. The reporters fled in total confusion without even having time to pack their equipment. It didn’t matter if their cameras were broken or not. They had to survive first.
Once not even a single ant remained, Choi Jae-heon ruffled his hair roughly.
“Thank you for the drive.”
Afterward, he turned back and offered his thanks to the driver who had brought the car this far.
“It was nothing. It was obviously the right thing to do.”
Although she had been called by her older cousin since the morning to take the wheel, she had no regrets. This was because Yoon So-ra had also occasionally suffered mishaps at the hands of reporters.
“Those things are just trash reporters.”
Yoon So-ra shook her head as she watched Choi Jae-heon quickly open the gate and enter the house.
“Ian!”
As soon as Choi Jae-heon opened the front door and entered, he saw Ian pacing in the living room. He didn’t seem terrified, but his complexion was pale. How much mental distress must he have suffered during this time? Choi Jae-heon’s heart sank at the sight of him. He ran over in a single bound and pulled Ian into a tight embrace.
“Are you okay? You aren’t hurt anywhere, right? Those bastards didn’t say anything to you, did they? You didn’t open the door for them, right?”
“Hy—Hyung. I can’t breathe.”
