Kwa-aaaang!

The flames erupting from Hong Seo-yun’s hands burned with a ferocious intensity.

This was not entirely Hong Seo-yun’s own strength. Thanks to the divine power being continuously injected by Ian, who was clinging to his back like a cicada, his stamina did not deplete. Given that he was firing off S-class wide-area magic, he should have been exhausted long ago. However, a warm energy surged ceaselessly from Ian, forcibly refilling his depleted physical strength.

Like an inexhaustible spring, the white flames expanded their range.

“Uhahaha! This is crazy! I’m not getting tired!”

It felt as if he had become a zombie.

“Hyung, focus! They’re still coming down!”

Ian shouted, pressing close to Hong Seo-yun’s ear.

He was currently in a state where his presence was erased from the world through [Sanctuary Proclamation]. Since the opponents were monsters without eyes, he did not bother hiding his physical form. Therefore, the murderous intent and aggro of the demons were currently focused solely on Hong Seo-yun. Thanks to this, Ian could hide behind his back and focus safely on his role as a ‘human battery.’

However, the situation was not optimistic.

The red gate opened at the mountain peak showed no signs of closing, and Shadow Stalkers continued to pour out from the gap like a swarm of black ants.

Kieeeeeek!

“Kill them! Put out the fire, and find the light hidden behind it!”

The creatures were cunning.

The places where eyes should be were empty, but instead of sight, they possessed sensory organs that were extremely developed for detecting mana. They narrowed the encirclement by stretching their shadows into the blind spots where the flames could not reach.

“Dammit, do they even have intelligence?”

Hong Seo-yun bit his lip. The flames flickered and died down momentarily. His physical stamina was overflowing, but the core that allowed him to manifest supernatural powers, something more fundamental, was beginning to empty.

“Ku-uuuhk!”

At Hong Seo-yun’s groan, Ian’s complexion turned pale.

It was true. The energy Ian injected through touch was ‘vitality’ that washed away physical fatigue. However, what was needed to use magic was the fundamental ‘power.’ In the other world, it was called mana. To refill mana, simple skin contact was insufficient.

Ultimately, it meant they had to perform the “kiss” Hong Seo-yun had mentioned, which was mucous membrane contact.

Ian urgently grabbed Hong Seo-yun’s shoulders. A knight who ran out of mana was nothing more than a meat shield on the battlefield. He could not let Hong Seo-yun become like that.

“Hyung, wait a second.”

“Huh? Hey!”

Ian mercilessly grabbed him by the collar and yanked him around to face him. Flustered, Hong Seo-yun squeezed his eyes shut. He had been so playful when speaking of it before, but now that the situation was actually upon him, he seemed troubled.

“E-even if we do this, you’re still my younger brother, okay?”

He was stating the obvious. Ian had no intention of receiving any more confessions from anyone. This was all merely an act for survival. Repeating that to himself, he stood on his tiptoes and aimed for Hong Seo-yun’s lips.

It was then.

A massive roar that seemed to rip through the night sky was heard.

Dududududu—!

It was the sound of a helicopter. It was not a common helicopter occasionally spotted under normal circumstances. The heavy propeller noise unique to combat helicopters overwhelmed the villa.

And from the eyes of someone jumping out of that helicopter, the sight of Ian and Hong Seo-yun just before their lips touched was captured.

“What are you doing!”

A thunderous shout fell from the sky.

Before that voice, a mixture of jealousy and murderous intent, could even reach them, an invisible, massive force tore the roof of the villa off entirely.

Kwajik! Kung!

“Ugh!”

Hong Seo-yun and Ian were blown away by the incredible wind pressure. Naturally, the attempt to kiss was rendered null.

Amidst the debris of the broken ceiling, a man landed with his black coat fluttering. The concrete floor cracked like a spiderweb, and a cloud of dust rose.

“…Hyung?”

Ian sat on his backside, his eyes wide with surprise.

It was Choi Jae-heon. However, unlike his usual self, his eyes looked half-crazed.

‘How dare you touch my brother?’

It seemed he couldn’t even see his friend right now. Hong Seo-yun groaned from where he had been tossed into a corner, but Choi Jae-heon did not care. He scanned the demons filling the living room.

“You insect-like bastards.”

As Choi Jae-heon clenched his hand, the heads of the demons in the living room burst like watermelons. It was an overwhelming military force. It was salvation itself.

And then, one more person.

Following the path Choi Jae-heon had cleared, a man descended elegantly while wreathed in divine power shaped like golden wings.

“I apologize for being late, Saint.”

It was Vermouth.

As he swung the sword in his hand, a crescent-shaped blade of energy sliced through the shadows. The Shadow Stalkers that touched the light vanished with a scream. The number of lives extinguished in that single movement was far greater than the number Choi Jae-heon had killed.

Honestly, now that I think about it, wouldn’t blood suffice without having to make out with everyone?
