As soon as the vehicles came to a halt, the awakened individuals and agents of the Management Bureau disembarked, and healers in white coats moved in perfect unison.

“Patient! Is there a patient?”

From among them, a weary looking Yoon Tae-gyeom rushed over and shouted.

“Over here!”

He quickly scanned the scene and assigned the healers to Vermouth El Di Loxtian. Ian tried to stay involved, but Choi Jae-heon grabbed his shoulder and pulled him back.

“You need to rest too. You look pale.”

Ian opened his mouth to speak a few times before closing it again. One of the healers moved to attend to Ian. A warm power surged through his body, beginning to restore his stamina.

“Ian! Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?”

In truth, Choi Jae-heon and Hong Seo-yun looked much more haggard, yet Yoon Tae-gyeom only asked after Ian.

“I am fine. Rather than me, the other older brothers are,”

“These guys are sturdy, so they are fine.”

“Blegh!”

Behind Yoon Tae-gyeom as he spoke, Hong Seo-yun could be seen vomiting due to the exhaustion of his mana. Ian narrowed his eyes instinctively. No matter how he looked at it, Seo-yun did not seem fine.

“That is how they build up resistance.”

What resistance? Perhaps sensing the meaning in Ian’s gaze, Yoon Tae-gyeom coughed awkwardly and changed the subject.

“I was too late, wasn’t I? I had to defend the city center, so I sent Choi Jae-heon and Vermouth ahead first.”

That was the moment the source of the military helicopter they had arrived in was revealed.

“I should have come faster. I have no excuse.”

“No, it is alright.”

Ian understood Yoon Tae-gyeom’s heart. There are times when it is difficult to choose between two options. It was often like that in Lancia as well. In those moments, one always chose the side with more people. Or the side with more capable people. No matter how much one preaches benevolence, it is impossible to be equal to everyone.

It was that kind of era.

“Ugh!”

There were three healers treating Vermouth. Each possessed outstanding abilities, yet the wound did not close. On the contrary, some were pushed back as if they had taken a hit, coughing up blood.

“Th, this is strange!” one of the healers cried out.

Ian quickly stood up and moved back to Vermouth’s side. He pushed his Holy Power in once more. The eyes of the other healers widened at the sight. The wound did not heal, but it stopped worsening. Most importantly, Vermouth’s expression became noticeably more comfortable.

The healers looked as though they had many questions, but they did not speak to Ian. It was a forbidden act to interfere while a healer was treating a patient.

“Ah, the villa is trashed.”

Hong Seo-yun leaned against a collapsed wall nearby, watching the Management Bureau clean up the scene.

“But ordinary healers can’t even touch that. Should we call for a Buffer?”

A Buffer refers to a healer specializing in poison and purification. They are rare, but one is affiliated with the Phoenix Guild.

“We should call them.”

“Ho?”

Hong Seo-yun looked at Choi Jae-heon, who had given that answer.

“You aren’t going to just let him die?”

“…He saved Ian.”

“True, that really is worth praising.”

Yoon Tae-gyeom stepped between the two men as they talked.

“So, what is the plan? Looking at his current state, it doesn’t seem like moving him will be easy.”

“I happen to have another house in this neighborhood.”

Hong Seo-yun stood up with a smirk.

“Wouldn’t it be better to go to a hospital?”

“No, my house will be much better. We have Ian as the treating healer, and we can just bring the Buffer there. If we go to a hospital for no reason, annoying things might swarm us.”

“You mean the reporters.”

“They didn’t used to be like that. At some point, they started crossing the line constantly.”

“I will see to it that they are cautioned.”

“Good luck!”

With those words, Yoon Tae-gyeom left to manage the site recovery. The group borrowed a remaining Management Bureau van and moved to Hong Seo-yun’s other house.

“Wow, Management Bureau cars really are nice.”

Though the exterior looked plain, the inside was packed with state of the art medical equipment for emergencies. It was a vehicle typically used to transport individuals who needed to remain hidden from the public.

Vermouth lay on a makeshift bed in the center, and Ian sat on a side chair next to him, gripping his shoulder tightly. He felt as though the poison would pierce Vermouth’s heart the moment he let go.

Choi Jae-heon sat in the driver’s seat instead of an agent. Unable to trust anyone else with the wheel, he drove the ambulance himself. The situation in the back was clearly visible through the rearview mirror.

Only heavy silence and the humming of medical machinery filled the vehicle.
