The Saint Wants to Rest - Chapter 37.1
“Ah, seriously, it is so loud I could die.”
The one who mediated between the snarling Choi Jae-heon and the spitefully smiling Vermouth was Hong Seo-yun once again.
“Then let’s do this for now. A compromise!”
Hong Seo-yun snapped his fingers to draw everyone’s attention.
“I have an empty house in Seoul, you see? I bought it for investment purposes in the Gangnam area, and while the interior is done, no one lives there. It has four rooms and is quite spacious.”
“Hyung, exactly how many houses do you have?”
“Hey, letting money rot in a bank account is the stupidest thing you can do. The important thing is investment.”
“Didn’t your stocks get cut in half once while you were doing that?”
Hong Seo-yun’s brow furrowed sharply at Yoon Tae-gyeom’s pointed jab.
“I recovered later, didn’t I? Anyway!”
Hong Seo-yun cleared his throat and returned to the main point.
“Ian, if you want to be independent, stay there. Forget the rent and just pay the utility bills.”
“Really?”
Ian’s eyes sparkled like stars.
To be able to live in a house in the middle of Gangnam, Seoul, just by paying utility bills. To Ian, who had been prepared for homelessness due to worries about a security deposit, it was an offer no different from winning the lottery.
“There is a condition instead.”
Hong Seo-yun pointed back and forth between Choi Jae-heon and Vermouth.
“Since it is dangerous to stay alone, you need a guardian. Choi Jae-heon, you go in with him too.”
“No! What kind of independence is that!”
“Uh-huh, listen to me. Otherwise, don’t even dream about the house!”
“But!”
“I cannot leave you alone for the time being. Reporters even found Choi Jae-heon’s house, which he hadn’t made public. What do you think will happen if your house is discovered?”
“That, that is true, but.”
He had not thought that far ahead. Ian let out a sigh, looking dejected.
“Right, Ian. Let’s listen to the older brothers for now.”
“In any case, Ian, you will be stuck with Vermouth for a while too. Doesn’t immediate independence seem meaningless? So just live together as a trio for the time being.”
It was not a bad proposal. No, from Choi Jae-heon’s perspective, it was practically the only alternative. Vermouth also nodded as if satisfied.
“That is a wise decision.”
“Hey! Hong Seo-yun! Are you out of your mind? You want me to live in the same house as that bastard?”
Choi Jae-heon’s expression was distorted menacingly.
Living with Vermouth. It was horrifying just to imagine. To eat and sleep under the same roof with someone he snarled at just by making eye contact. He felt he would be more at peace sleeping outdoors in a gate.
“Forget it if you don’t like it. Should I just send Ian and Vermouth alone then?”
“There is no need for them to be attached every day for treatment.”
It seemed they had already passed that stage. Considering he was missing an arm, Vermouth was moving around quite well on his own.
“Still, that is safer. Who knows where the next gate will open? Now, even gates that we cannot predict on our end are opening. Then who will protect Ian? At least two people should take turns staying with him. You have a guild too; can you stay with him 24 hours a day by yourself?”
Choi Jae-heon fell silent at Hong Seo-yun’s bombardment of facts.
He could not refute it. If Ian were targeted by the demonic race while he was inside a gate or while his eyes were turned away for a moment, it would be the end.
Protecting Ian together with Vermouth, even if he didn’t like it, was safer.
“…Sigh.”
Choi Jae-heon let out a deep sigh. It appeared as though he was yielding his opinion out of necessity. He brushed his hair back roughly and looked at Ian.
“Fine. Fine. We can just live together.”
He then pointed a finger at Vermouth and issued a threat.
“Instead! If I catch you doing anything suspicious, I’m kicking you out that very day. I won’t just strike your arm; I’ll strike your neck. Especially when you are with Ian, do not close the bedroom door. If you lock the door and do something strange, I will really kill you.”
“I will keep that in mind. Let’s leave the door wide open. It will be good for ventilation.”
Vermouth laughed slyly, but Ian’s face burned hot, and he hung his head low. Recalling the events of the previous night made him want to hide in a mouse hole.
“Now then, the housing issue is resolved.”
“Is this really resolved?”
Ian asked back blankly. He said he would be independent, but in addition to his brother, even Vermouth was now attached to him.
“It is the best option for now.”
Yoon Tae-gyeom said that as he packed his bag and stood up.
“Ian, you said you would register as an Awakened, right?”
“Huh? Yes, I will.”
“Good. Then contact me as soon as the move is finished. I will set a schedule for you.”
“Hyung, thank you.”
“Don’t mention it!”
Yoon Tae-gyeom waved his hand and left the house hurriedly, just as he had arrived.
“Hey, wait a minute!”
Hong Seo-yun followed Yoon Tae-gyeom, seemingly having something to say to him. Thus, only the three men remained in the living room once again. Because they had fought over the “real brothers” issue just moments ago, the atmosphere between Ian and Choi Jae-heon was still awkward and heavy.
“Let’s go.”
Choi Jae-heon said to Ian while grabbing his car keys.
“Where?”
“Where else? We have to go home. Let’s go pack your things.”
