The Saint Wants to Rest - Chapter 38.1
“Ah, I just got a call. Sort out the room assignments yourselves.”
After Hong Seo-yun left with those words, a heavy silence settled over the spacious living room where only the three men remained.
“First, Ian takes the master bedroom,” Choi Jae-heon said firmly.
“I agree with that. Mr. Ian should use the best room. Now, we just need to decide on our rooms.”
“I am taking that room.”
The spot Choi Jae-heon claimed was positioned so that he could see the master bedroom door the moment he opened his own. It was the optimal location to monitor who came and went throughout the night, making him essentially Ian’s door guard.
“And you.”
Choi Jae-heon’s finger pointed toward the study at the very end of the hallway, near the front entrance.
“You stay over there.”
“I refuse.”
Vermouth cut him off instantly.
“The protection of Mr. Ian must be conducted from the closest possible proximity. I shall use this room.”
The place Vermouth pointed to was right next to the room Choi Jae-heon intended to use; in other words, it was another small room directly facing the master bedroom. It was his way of saying he would also watch over Ian from the nearest vantage point.
“Are you crazy? Absolutely not. You are a subject for quarantine.”
“Quarantining a patient? You are too cruel. Furthermore, if sinister beings were to raid us in the night, are you certain you could stop them alone? I am confident that I am the right person for the job.”
Ian narrowed his eyes as he watched the scene. He didn’t think his brother had spoken to Vermouth quite like that from the start. At some point, his language had become quite harsh.
“Right person, my foot. You are the most dangerous one here.”
“I would like to return those exact words to you.”
A tense battle of wills continued.
Choi Jae-heon tried to send Vermouth to a room as far away as possible, while Vermouth tried to secure his spot by Ian’s side at any cost. Watching them was enough to make even Ian feel exhausted.
Ultimately, after a long scuffle, it was Choi Jae-heon who took a step back. Just as Vermouth said, his ability to detect the presence of the demonic race was a level above.
Thus, a strange arrangement was completed.
Ian was in the master bedroom. In the rooms across from him, Choi Jae-heon and Vermouth nested side by side. The study at the end of the hallway was relegated to being a storage space for luggage.
Night deepened.
Ian finished his shower and sat on the edge of the bed.
It was now time for the “treatment.” Vermouth’s arm had regenerated quite a bit, but it had not sprouted back yet. Still, it felt as though it could be fully healed within a few days if Holy Power was properly injected.
Right, if it is done properly.
Ian wiped his face with his dry hands. It seemed his brother had noticed something back in Chuncheon. Was it okay to perform such acts here again? While he was agonizing over it for a long time, he heard a knock.
Knock, knock.
“It is Vermouth.”
“Come in.”
Vermouth was wearing a tracksuit, which was unlike his usual self. Ian had only ever seen him neatly dressed in his Paladin uniform or a suit. The look was so different that Ian found himself staring a little longer than intended.
“My, do you like these clothes?”
Only then did Ian look away from Vermouth. Then, he discovered Choi Jae-heon following behind him like a shadow.
“Hyung? Why are you coming in too?” Ian asked in confusion.
“I told you I’m monitoring. To see if any nonsense happens.”
Choi Jae-heon leaned against the wall next to the bedroom door with his arms crossed. He looked as though he had no intention of leaving. Naturally, Ian was placed in a difficult position. To perform that “treatment” right in front of his brother? To engage in the act of pressing lips together and mixing saliva? It was absolutely impossible.
For today, let’s just stick to ordinary treatment.
Ian sent a look to Vermouth conveying that intent. Vermouth then shrugged his shoulders as if he understood. Considering his arm might never return to normal, Ian felt a bit sorry seeing him comply so easily.
“Come here.”
Ian had Vermouth sit on the bed and took his uninjured hand. Then, he closed his eyes and channeled his Holy Power. A warm light flowed from Ian’s hand into Vermouth. It was the most basic form of treatment. However, the efficiency in restoring the poisoned state was terrible. It was at the level of a faucet being barely turned on.
‘This is troublesome.’
As Ian thought this, Choi Jae-heon spoke up.
“…Are you kidding me?”
Startled, Ian looked back to see Choi Jae-heon staring with a cold expression.
“What is it?”
“Aren’t you going to do it properly? In Chuncheon, you made the flesh on the severed section sprout back in just one night. But now, you’re saying this is enough?”
Ian opened and closed his mouth several times. Instead, Vermouth provided an excuse.
“This much is fine.”
“Don’t be ridiculous. Stop lying.”
Choi Jae-heon strode toward Ian.
“Ian. You have another method of treatment, don’t you?”
“…Huh?”
“I heard that when you treat him in earnest, you kiss him. Is that not right?”
Ian’s heart plummeted for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure. He likely heard the story from Hong Seo-yun. He protested in a small voice.
