The Saint Wants to Rest - Chapter 45.2
Choi Jae-heon’s gaze was fixed straight on Ian, who was sitting on the bed, rather than on his detestable romantic rival.
“…Ian.”
Choi Jae-heon spoke. His voice was buried much lower than usual, sounding incredibly chilly.
“Answer only exactly what I ask.”
Choi Jae-heon did not even blink.
“This. Is it true that you consented to this?”
“Huh?”
“I am asking if this happened because you permitted it yourself and gave your full consent, not because that man forced you or used the situation as an excuse to threaten you.”
It was a clear and firm question. If even the slightest nuance of being forced came from Ian’s mouth, Choi Jae-heon was ready to tear Vermouth limb from limb right then and there, even if it meant collapsing the entire building. Sensing exactly where that cold and blind rage was headed, Ian nodded hurriedly despite his panic.
“Y… Yes! That’s right! I consented to it! It was absolutely not forced! It’s just, while trying to completely purify the Shadow Stalker poison, I inevitably had to, a little…”
The moment Ian’s answer fell, the horrific pressure of telekinesis that had been weighing down on the room as if to make it explode subsided like a receding tide.
Choi Jae-heon slowly relaxed the fists he had been clenching so hard that his veins stood out. Ian had consented. With that, the justification to kill Vermouth immediately vanished. However, just because he withdrew his murderous intent did not mean the burning jealousy and anger had disappeared as well.
“Ha!”
Choi Jae-heon wiped his face with one hand and let out a low, exasperated sigh.
“Inevitably. A little?”
Choi Jae-heon’s chilly gaze sharply swept over Ian’s body once again.
At that moment, Vermouth, who had been holding Ian’s waist, slowly straightened his upper body. Using the fact that Ian had wanted this as a shield, the beast wore his characteristic arrogant and relaxed smile, as if he no longer had anything to hide.
“It is just as you heard, Choi Jae-heon. The Saint looked upon me with favor and personally granted me mercy. Thanks to that, as you can see, I have completely cast off the Shadow Stalker’s deadly poison and recovered perfectly.”
“Shut your mouth. Before I actually wring your neck.”
“Having received plenty of the Saint’s grace, my body feels very light. Would you like to test it out?”
Vermouth issued a quiet provocation and raised his newly grown left hand. From his fingertips, a dazzling, pure white aura based on holy power erupted. The snowy white mana, without a single trace of turbidity, enveloped Vermouth’s entire body, standing against Choi Jae-heon’s chilly momentum without backing down an inch.
“You, seriously.”
The corners of Choi Jae-heon’s eyes curved coldly. He was barely holding onto his reason because Ian had permitted it, but seeing Vermouth act so shamelessly made a fire boil up inside him once again.
“You’re jumping in without knowing your place. Should I rip that arm off for you again?”
“Are you even capable of that? One should not put words into one’s mouth that one cannot put into practice.”
Choi Jae-heon’s telekinesis, radiating murderous intent, and Vermouth’s pure white aura, accompanied by an arrogant smile, collided in the air, creating a sharp snapping sound.
“Will you both stop it?!”
Ian, who had been holding his breath on the bed, finally exploded and shouted. Only then did the two of them look back at him.
“Hyung, first of all, withdraw that aura! I’m suffocating! And Vermouth, don’t provoke him for no reason! And put some clothes on!”
Ian collapsed face-down on the bed, clutching his head as a headache rushed in. He had endured it when the man had only one arm because he felt pity for him. But there was simply no way to stop the stifling power struggle between this beast, who had become overconfident after regaining both arms, and his chilly brother, whose eyes were spinning with jealousy even while trying to maintain his reason.
It was maddening.
Ian pulled the blanket all the way over his head. It seemed he was doomed to never live peacefully again.
“Sigh.”
At Ian’s scolding, Choi Jae-heon finally let out a deep sigh and completely withdrew his telekinesis. As the pressure that had frozen the room lifted, the precarious vibration that had been rattling the windows also stopped. Choi Jae-heon roughly loosened his tie and swept back his disheveled bangs.
“I really didn’t come home early today to see this sight.”
To see this sight! How could he say something so spitefully? Ian poked his face out from under the blanket and glared at Choi Jae-heon.
