The Saint Wants to Rest - Chapter 51.1
More dangerous and fatal than social chaos caused by mutual suspicion was the fact that the demons were devouring key figures one by one, gnawing away at their forces. Yoon Tae-gyeom determined that he had to draw public attention somehow and instill a sense of crisis in the Awakened.
“This is driving me crazy.”
As Yoon Tae-gyeom clutched his head, a massive shadow suddenly approached him. It was Alexander Gray, who was thought to have been deployed to clear the Yeouido Gate.
“Have you not left yet, Alexander?”
“It seemed like Team Leader Yoon was having an interesting dilemma.”
Alexander wiped away his usual goofy, lighthearted smile and looked down at Yoon Tae-gyeom with serious and sharp blue eyes.
“It seems you are suffering from a headache due to the stifling bureaucracy of the Korean Management Bureau’s higher-ups. Regarding the announcement of the demons’ existence, that is.”
“…Did you hear?”
“I heard it quite clearly. Even that foolish decision to hold onto a bomb for the sake of stability.”
Alexander reached out across the table and lightly tapped Yoon Tae-gyeom’s report.
“There is no need to worry. We will officially brief the entire world on this fact under the name of the American Empire Guild.”
“What?”
Yoon Tae-gyeom’s eyes widened.
An official announcement by the Empire Guild meant that the United States government was moving. However, it also meant that the Empire would entirely shoulder the responsibility for the massive fear, criticism, and chaos of the global population regarding the demons and this incident occurring in Korea.
It was a radical decision, far removed from the image of the selfish businessman who had been using shallow tricks just to look good to Ian.
“Alexander. Are you serious? If the Empire takes the lead in announcing this, there will be immense panic. There is no reason for the Guild Master to handle that responsibility and social outcry….”
“Have you forgotten who I am, Team Leader Yoon?”
Alexander smirked. His eyes held not arrogance, but the firm self-confidence of the strong.
“I am the Master of Empire, the one who leads the Awakened of the United States, no, the entire world. Avoiding risks and only chasing profit is what third-rate merchants do.”
Alexander adjusted his grip on his hammer and turned around. His broad back felt more massive than ever before.
“Sometimes, one needs to move for the sake of the world rather than immediate gain. Willingly carrying a heavy cross that no one else wants to shoulder. That is what a true ‘hero’ would do.”
“Sir Alexander.”
“Now then, shall this cool hero head off to smash some monster heads? Make sure you watch the briefing later, Team Leader Yoon.”
Alexander walked out of the situation room with a boisterous laugh. Watching his retreating figure, Yoon Tae-gyeom parted his tightly closed lips slightly. He had thought the man was just an arrogant American who always missed the mark, but he finally understood clearly why that man reigned at the number one spot in the world.
Vrrr—
Immediately after Alexander left, Yoon Tae-gyeom’s personal smartphone rang fiercely. The caller was Sarah, the chief secretary of the Empire Guild.
—Team Leader Yoon! Please tell me our Guild Master hasn’t declared he’s going to do something crazy there again! I just got a call from him telling me to call global media reporters and set up a press room!
“Ah.”
Hearing Sarah’s desperate cry over the receiver, Yoon Tae-gyeom felt the grand emotion he had felt from Alexander’s back crumble just a little. No. Still, the mindset he held was sincere.
“Secretary Sarah. For once, this isn’t a crazy stunt; he has made a truly heroic decision. I will send you the detailed materials separately. Please take some stomach medicine before you check them.”
Yoon Tae-gyeom hung up with a bitter yet somewhat relieved smile. The giant gears were finally starting to mesh and turn in the right direction.

At that time.
The noisy sirens faded, and an uneasy silence settled over a dark residential alley in downtown Seoul.
“Huff, huff…”
An ordinary office worker, who had been running toward a shelter after hearing a sudden Gate warning on his way home, sat leaning against a narrow alley wall, gasping for breath. Fortunately, the Gate had closed and no monsters had emerged, but his legs had given out from extreme fear and he could not stand.
“I survived. I really thought I was going to die.”
It was the moment the man let out a sigh of relief, brushing his chest.
Slither.
The pitch-black shadow cast beneath his feet began to heave irregularly, like a living swamp of mud. The moment the man felt the abnormality and looked down.
“Huh?”
