The Saint Wants to Rest - Chapter 74.1
The reception room of the Stigma headquarters.
Alexander was leisurely waiting for Ian. The person attending to him was none other than Choi Jae-heon.
“I apologize; it feels as if I am taking up your time.”
“It is quite alright. My younger brother’s business is my business.”
There was not a single trace of a lie on Choi Jae-heon’s face as he spoke. Korea’s S-rank awakened truly cherished his brother. It was because Alexander knew this that he had come here specifically. After all, the Order of Regnasia had not yet finished remodeling its headquarters.
How much time has passed since then?
When the door to the reception room opened and Ian made his appearance, Alexander, who had been leaning back comfortably on the sofa, straightened his posture.
“Well, well. It has been a long time!”
Ian also bowed his head at the cheerful greeting.
“Hello.”
“You may act more comfortably with me.”
Despite only having met a few times, his act of being close was top-tier.
“I am truly sorry for barging in without notice when you must be at your busiest!”
“No, it’s alright; I thought we should have a conversation at some point.”
“Hooh?”
“Gates don’t only open in Korea. The entire world needs to be at peace, doesn’t it?”
Alexander laughed heartily at those words.
“You are correct. Some idiots only look after their own countries, but things shouldn’t be that way. If one place collapses, the burden on other places only increases.”
If a country falls, refugees are created. Since they cannot be left to die, other countries must help, but that is no simple task either.
Alexander approached Ian in a friendly manner yet maintained his distance. That was because of the purple-eyed knight standing beside him.
Knight.
It was a profession that had long since vanished in reality, but the word suited Vermouth perfectly. It was even more so if one added a specific prefix.
“You look like a Holy Knight no matter when I see you.”
“Because I am a Holy Knight.”
Vermouth answered nonchalantly and stood in front of Ian. He did not move aside even when Ian lightly tapped his broad back with his hand.
“It’s okay. He’s an ally.”
“There is no such thing as an eternal ally in this world.”
As the world nears its end, people are bound to become corrupt. The reason the damage to Lancia was so great in the early stages was because of humans who joined hands with the demon race. They joined hands with evil and harmed their own kind, using their wealth, revenge, or love as an excuse.
“Still, for now, he’s an ally.”
Alexander responded to Ian’s remark.
“I shall be an eternal ally. First, please have a seat.”
Serious conversation only began once Ian sat on the sofa.
“By the way, what business brings you all the way here?”
“There was business, indeed. Did you not say you would find the Order of Regnasia? While many religious people are denouncing it as an absurd act, I think differently.”
“In what way?”
“This is a stepping stone for the salvation of the world. For that reason, I will tell you why I have come.”
Alexander leaned forward with a serious expression. At that attitude, everyone’s expressions stiffened, except for his secretary, Jessica.
“I also wish to join the Order of Regnasia.”
As soon as those words fell, Jessica clenched her fists. She looked as if she wanted to punch Alexander right then and there.
“You cannot.”
Jessica spoke firmly.
“Why! America has freedom of religion!”
“Even so, you cannot.”
“No, you cannot block my freedom!”
“Lord Alexander!”
In this very moment, Ian empathized with Jessica’s pain. To have a superior who listens so little.
“It is not a bad idea, is it? Regnasia is a newly formed religion. It’s not that there are no members, but there are few recognized individuals. What do you think would happen if I joined at a time like this?”
People would say you’ve gone crazy. Ian could not bring himself to say those words and merely stared at Alexander.
“Trust in the Order of Regnasia will build further. Once trust in the miracles is established, it becomes easier to increase the number of believers.”
“Even without going that far—”
“No. Please accept me. I absolutely want to do this!”
Alexander’s words were not wrong. If he joined, even those who were still skeptical would show interest in the Order of Regnasia. Then it would be easier to revive the religion. However, one could tell just by the attitude of his secretary, Jessica.
America would not welcome Alexander’s choice. How did he plan to resolve that? If handled poorly, there was a possibility it could escalate into an issue between countries. When Ian mentioned that, Alexander waved his hand as if to tell him not to worry.
