The Saint Wants to Rest - Chapter 79.2
Ian asked calmly, as if testing the waters. If there was any potential for a diplomatic issue to arise, he had to settle it right now. However, the answer that came from Vladimir’s mouth completely missed his expectations.
“Trouble? Not at all.”
Vladimir replied with a very refreshing smile.
“On the contrary, it was an incredibly intense and fascinating conversation. It was a great pleasure, as I felt like I saw the deep inner side of Mr. Vermouth and his passion from very close. Thank you once again for taking the time out of your precious schedule.”
It was a pleasure? It was fascinating?
Ian’s eyes shook minutely. When he turned his gaze to look at Vermouth, the knight was displaying blatant disgust toward Vladimir.
However, in Ian’s eyes, that entire series of reactions was extremely bothersome.
‘What is this? What did the two of them do while I wasn’t around?’
Vladimir was smiling with red marks on his neck and a flushed face, while Vermouth, instead of ignoring him as usual, was “reacting” by glaring at him. Normally, Ian would have just thought Vermouth was chasing away a bug, but since the opponent was who he was, the feeling was strange.
Vladimir was an S-class Awakened representing Russia. He possessed outstanding looks along with immense wealth and power. With such a guy sticking to Vermouth so intentionally, Ian’s displeasure soared.
“Is that so? I’m glad you enjoyed yourself. Then, since the contract has been finalized, please return to your home country now.”
Ian issued an order for him to leave in a cold voice. However, it seemed Vladimir had no intention of backing down like this.
“Ah, regarding that part.”
Vladimir replied with a relaxed smile.
“I plan to stay in Korea for the time being. I have already finished reporting to my home country that I will inspect the situation in Korea and assist to see how the badges of the Order of Regnasia actually function at Gate sites. We will be seeing each other often from now on, Saint Ian. And you too, Mr. Vermouth.”
After tossing a meaningful smile toward Vermouth, Vladimir walked out with the people who had come with him.
Even after the door closed, Ian could not speak for a long time. It was because he realized the true identity of this emotion boiling up inside him.
It was a strange feeling he had never felt even once, neither when he was in Lancia nor when he returned to Earth.
‘This is really annoying.’
A blatant sense of possessiveness and jealousy that he felt when someone else tried to lay a hand on what was his. That was it.
Vladimir’s words were not a bluff.
Having gained the full trust of the Russian government through the bulk export of badges, he settled down in Korea with the status of a legal diplomat. And from that day on, he began to stick to the daily lives of Ian and Vermouth like a leech.
No, to be precise, he followed only “Vermouth” tenaciously.
“Lord Vermouth! For lunch today, I have rented out an entire five star hotel restaurant nearby. I have also prepared the finest caviar freshly flown in from Russia.”
Vladimir stood in the way as he spoke, but Vermouth walked past, spitting out cold words.
“Get lost.”
But Vladimir did not know how to give up.
A few days later, at the temporary training ground of the Order of Regnasia. The first batch of trainees, including Park Dong-ho and Kim Cheol-su, were rolling around while shedding sweat and blood. While Vermouth was pushing them harshly, a guest arrived.
It was Vladimir again. He sat in a chair with his chin resting on his hand, scanning Vermouth blatantly.
“Ah, even the sight of you soaked in sweat is like a masterpiece. That rough breathing, those muscles looking as if they might burst….”
At his mad commentary, people passing by nearby crept away while clutching their goosebump covered arms. And Ian, who happened to see that, furrowed his brow without realizing it.
‘Why is that bastard over there again?’
He was nothing short of a stalker.
Normally, Ian would have focused on observing how much the trainees were enduring, but today, he couldn’t concentrate at all. The silver hair that kept flickering at the edge of his vision was an eyesore.
‘Vermouth is mine.’
Ian tightened his grip on his hand.
Of course, Vermouth was either thoroughly ignoring Vladimir or emitting a bloodlust as if he would kill him. He had never once shown a favorable attitude toward him. But even that touched a nerve for Ian.
Until now, from the moment he opened his eyes until the moment he fell asleep, all of Vermouth’s nerves and gaze had been fixed only on one person, “Ian.” That was only natural. But since Vladimir appeared, Vermouth was diverting his attention to push him away or ignore him.
Even during that momentary instant when his gaze turned away, Ian could not stand it.
