As if he had anticipated this very moment, the carriage was piled high with blankets. Kailos used them to carefully dry Leslun, inch by inch.

Then, when their eyes met, Kailos closed the distance and pressed their lips together. The breath that had been trapped in Leslun’s throat was swallowed whole.

“Hng—!”

A gasp escaped as fingers slipped between rain-drenched fabric, teasing over skin.

“You’re soaked.”

The voice held a hint of amusement. At the same time, his hand wandered over Leslun’s chest, easily catching a hardened nipple between his fingers. Kailos pinched and rolled the small bud, like the unripe fruit of a young tree, between his fingertips.

The more Kailos’ touch lingered on his oversensitive skin, the more Leslun’s body trembled without pause. Before he knew it, Kailos’ thick thigh had slid between his legs, trapping him.

The rationality that told him to resist faded further, his breaths growing ragged the deeper those touches explored.

Kailos’ blunt nails scraped over a nipple before digging in slightly. A dull throb of pleasure shot up Leslun’s spine, forcing out a shaky exhale.

“N-no…”

He tried to stifle the moan, but he couldn’t escape Kailos’ gaze—his eyes darkened further.

“With a body like this, you still dared to run from me?”

“No, that’s not—!”

“I’m the one who made you like this. Did you really think you could escape me, Leslun?”

Kailos’ mocking tone dripped into Leslun’s ears as his hands roamed lower.

Leslun. Les. Len. My sunlight.

Countless endearments spilled from his lips.

“If you truly don’t want me,”

Kailos’ eyes narrowed.

“Then I’ll let you go without regret. But if that’s not the case, you’ll have to be prepared.”

His gaze flashed dangerously, like a beast’s.

“You’ll have to take your punishment for running away.”

With ease, Kailos stripped away the rain-soaked pants, and Leslun’s breath hitched as fingers slid between his thighs.

A heat unlike the cold air outside bloomed beneath Leslun’s skin. As suppressed sensations resurfaced one by one, his halted breaths turned uneven again.

“Ha—ah…!”

A strained sound escaped—a wet, trembling noise.

“You’re burning up.”

The hand gliding over his skin was almost careful. Kailos’ brow furrowed as he inspected Leslun’s exposed body.

“Here. You’re scraped.”

His fingers traced Leslun’s knee, and his sigh carried regret—like he was looking at a prized ornament that had been scratched.

“I thought I held you tight enough to keep you from falling. When did this happen?”

The question held no anger, only concern.

“Should I pave the entire ground with carpets?”

What am I supposed to do with a man who threatens to carpet even the rough forest paths?

“I’m fine. So please… let me go.”

“That’s not happening.”

Even as he fretted over Leslun’s scrapes, Kailos pressed a clean cloth to his knee, his refusal absolute.

“I told you. You have to face your punishment.”

Kailos’ eyes gleamed strangely.

It was hard to believe the man who treated even a mere reddened scrape with such care was the same one now radiating such a dangerous aura.

“Leslun, don’t run from me.”

Kailos pressed his lips to his own knee, then lifted his gaze to meet Leslun’s.

“You’ll regret this. You’ll definitely regret catching me.”

“Whether I regret it or not is for me to decide.”

Somehow, the exchange reminded Leslun of their first meeting.

That day, too, had been like this.

Leslun had run until his breath burned in his throat, only to be caught—and Kailos had approached him as leisurely as if he were a hunter inspecting his trapped prey.

Now, on this repeated night, Leslun thought:

“How did I ever end up loving someone like this?”

If even the way he had shaped him was counted as a sin, then Kailos truly was the villain.

But Leslun wished for him to remain his villain forever.

The light in Leslun’s eyes burned just as fiercely as Kailos’.

It wasn’t just about being a villain, it was about defying the fate of the final villain.

And that was the hardest thing of all.
